i found this on toymods when i was researching the 1g conversion hope it helps
"Also a tip... when u get your metal mounts, you dont have to use spacers or anything tricky like that to hold the motor. Just go in2 Repco, and buy their version of the rubber mounts made for the 18R. They look nothing like the toyota ones, they are nolethane too But they do happen to hold the 1G-GTE perfectly. It sits lower and further back compared to using the standard Toyo ones with 10mm spacers. (plus they are new!)"

I bought a pair of brand new 18R engine mounts from Toyota and found that they were thicker than the original mounts, so no need for any spacers.
Food for thought.
