AE92 1.6L Carby Cheap/Quick Mods

I know this thread has probably been brought up many-a time, but i DID try searching and couldn't find one. I'm picking up my new AE92 Corolla (well, holden nova) this afternoon, and i was wondering if anyone had any idea's for some cheap, quick ideas for mods, both preformance and cosmetic.....it's pretty stock, actually you couldn't get any stocker, but this is sometimes the price you have ot pay to get one that is mechanically excellent.
Immediate things are obviously going to be Stereo which i have at home waiting to go in, Tints, seat covers etc etc and i want to colour code the bumpers.
However, i wouldn't mind some performance increase, i've gone from a commodore so the power is somewhat less and i know a lot about rear-wheel drive cars but not much about FWD's, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Is there much i can do with the air-intake on these engine's....i'm thinking probably not. I'm also thinking of putting in a short-shifter, there was a post on here for a bulk buy....but i don't know if i will have the money when they are ready to do it.

You can do the basics like cold air intake, less restriction filter, exhaust...etc
I'd just save money and buy a 4age or something, no point spending money on a shit motor. which si exactly why i ran my 4ac on woolies petrol and didnt service it or anything.
