2r - 18r conversion

i am thinking about putin an 18r into my hilux instead of the original 2r, and i was just wondering if ne one knows if it is possible and wat needs to be done to put it in.
its the colomn shift manual, in not sure about the clutch, and tailshaft situation, are the splines the same or diffrent???

Are you sure the hilux has a 2r? or is it a 12 R, either way look at the thread on the rt40, where i replaced the 2r with an 18rg, however, being a hilux im really not qualified to answer, but there may be possibilities of a x-member swap. not sure...

are you doing motor+ box or just motor? as the both engines 'should' bolt to the same bellhousing (being 'R' series engines)?
and why not dump the column shift and go 5sp W50 (that would come with 18R 5ps fro ma celica) and cut a hole in the floor?
You're probably up for different tailshaft (length) if you go from 4sp to 5sp?

its got a bench seat so i cant put a on the floor box in
and i cant get my hands on a good box

yea, but toyota's really are big boys lego..I did the 2r + 4spd to 18rgeu + w55 and the tailshaft from a slightly later model corona fitted perfectly ...
Also the 12R will bolt to the standard box, however the 18r will not.
