Coolant temp sensor in 4AFE - 2 or 1?

Just wondering in a 4AFE or 4AGE is there both a temp sensor/sender
for the temp gauge and another sensor for the ECU to adjust fuel injection duration etc or do they both run off the one sensor. In the Haynes manual it speaks of the gauge sending unit located in cylinder head but doesn't mention the one that gives signal to ECU.
I also realise there is a switch for the thermo fan that is seperate to all this.
Thanks,
Ben

from blue book, looks like there is a seperate temp sender for the ECU. this sensor looks like it is in the block (on the diagram here anyways)
as opposed to the normal water temp sensor which in near thermostat in most cars...

Thanks Stewart - just checked out the 4age book now (good idea).
Wuestion for someone out there:
Can anybody report if the below is the gauge sending unit or is that seperate again to this? i.e does this only send to ECU and there is seperate one for the gauge?

I found the temp switch for the fan but I think that is seperate all together

Yes, the gauge one is completely separate, and is the same as the 4AFC. I am STILL baffled by a small wiring issue that's causing me trouble with an AE92 that was, er, 'converted' from 4AFC to 4AFE, the temp gauge will NOT work properly! ACK!
