Basic Celica Mods

Hey Guys,
I'm in the process of getting a loan for 5- 6 grand considering my old car shat itself yesterday ('84 charade )
I'm looking at either a 86/87 Celica or a Pulsar SSS.
Obviously being toymods forums, youre all gonna be biased towards the celica, but in your most unbiased opinions, what would be the best value for an 18 year old to get?
Secondly, if i were to go the celica ( most probably the case) what mods are good for a basic level, and will i get noticible power gains from them?
Thanks guy,
Daniel

I'm pretty sure we've been through both of these questions before. If you do a search, you are bound to turn up more.
Basically we all liked the fact the ST162 wen't harder, didn't look like a shopping trolley and handled well for a FWD.
As for performance, start off with CAI, exhaust, extractors then move to the expensive stuff like cams and ECU.

Have you actually driven an SX Celica? It goes at least as hard as the 2l Pulsar and does it in style!
