ZZ celica's any good? Thu, 24 June 2004 00:48 Go to next message
A friend of mine at work is thinking of buying a 2002 ZZT231 R SX Celica, being and old school celica nut I have not heard if these car/engines are good or bad. What's the general feeling about these models?

ps. read the thread about the 2ZZ-GE (eeep scary) Confused

i reckon they are pretty average.
most people either love em or hate em...

i took one for a drive a while ago and wasnt really impressed with it untill about 6 grand... then the VVTLI came into play and she hussled along quite well. i thought it was pretty comfy to drive but the rear visablity(or lack there of) was a bit concerning.

as a package they are put together nicely and it would make a good revvy little town car, but yeah i didnt think too much of it performance untill the VVTI did its thing.

cheers
gumby

The car is a pretty good car. Fuel consumption is your best friend approx 7-8.6l/100km.
The feel of the car setup is quite comfortable and feel okay driving around town.
Parking is a little issue like parrallel and reverse parking due to little visibilty but you get use to it.
The car likes its revs and goes like a crazy over 5500revs producing 95db with a aftermarket sports exhaust.
Tyre wear is not that bad but tends to wear the front due the VVTi-L and cornering hard.

So far I had no problems with the car and I enjoy driving it.

Cheers

took one for a spin recently

Uber sweet gearbox , a motor that wants to rev , handles pretty sweet but its no where near in the league of a Gt4 ..

Visibility out the back is a Big shit , the previous STXX5's had better visibility by a long shot

This isnt biased either - its a genuine assesment + oppinion

I've got one and I love it. I don't want to modify it because I'm not into that sort of thing (not yet anyway). It suits me fine cause its small (2 door) has great power and handling and looks really nice...very comfy seats inside.

I don't find the back window too small unlike everyone else.

Get a TRD Cat-back exhaust from the US you will love it Very Happy ... 95dB @ 7600rpm & it doesn't make noise before 3000rpm so you can't get introuble with the RTA or police.

Not the Type M which is out from Japan, but the US market version... though are you willing to part AUD$2,500 for the privilege?

Cheers.

$2500 for an exhaust? I think I have better things to spend it on then the farting noise my car makes. Laughing
