I've heard that the vl and vl turbo pumps are exactly the same.

Yes with a VLTURBO fuel pump and a higher than stock fuel pressure it is quite concievble that this pump could deliver 300hp worth of fuel considering on a vl turbo with the right boost, cooler ect, and a decent fuel pressure reg you can get this output with the standard pump, i cant see you having a problem.

Apparently the factory-installed pumps were different between the NA and turbo models, but the replacement item is now listed (by Holden) as the same pump for both models. In other words, they changed it at some point; hence the widespread confusion on this topic!
