4AGZE ABV Problems

Ive been having these problems for a while now, but can only be bothered fixing it about now.
On my AE92 MAP GZE the idle occasionally bounces and threatens to stall. Everything ive seen points to the ABV being at fault as it does this only when warm, so the idle control is doing its job.
The MAP sensor doesnt give weird readings during this time although it would be interesting to see what i get with an analogue reading rather than the digital one off the SAFC.
I know a couple of people on here have blanked off their ABV entirely and removed it from the engine. And ive heard mumblings about replacing the ABV with a BOV type setup.
What are the details behind either of these?
Cheers

throw the ABV away or use it as a sinker next time you go fishing.
make a aluminuim plate to bolt where it was and cap the pipe from the s/c outlet pipe. IMO it's not needed.

If you're in Canberra, drop me a line, my ABV is out of the car at the moment and we can try swapping them over.
I think I've got a blanking setup floating around somewhere too...

I put the engine in.... uhhhhh.
The ABV leaks after a long period of use, its a common thing.
