AE86 or 180sx......the drift showdown

Ive got a 180 atm and was thinking of selling it to buy a sprinter. Im not a HC drifter but i want to get started. A lot of my mates have been telling me not to sell my SR180 for a sprinter done up to drift because they rekon the SR is good enuf stock to drift and it looks good . But i rekon the sprinter will be worth my time because i will save some cash for repairs about $5,000 and have a car ACTUALLY set up to drift. Do you think im making the right decision,
p.s. my 180 fully stock, and will putting a agze in the AE86 solve all my power problems.

well if you wanna drift your stock 180 i suggest you change the suspension. my mate lost it big time in his 180 with stock suspension, even though he had brand new tyres (the reason he thought he could hammer it)

i went to a drift comp today, the AE86 were the best there...but 180's have a lil more class and are more stylish.
i say keep your 180 coz youve already got it, plus its prolly newer than than the AE86's...is your 180 the CA18 or SR20? if its CA18, get the swap for an SR20...coz CA18's are gutless!!

Whats your reasoning? Sr is a much better motor technology and strength wise.

thanx V8_MA61
they are better all round...the ca was a weak engine and take such heavy mods as the sr without spendin more money to strengthen it...although the driftCA (i think thats how its spelt) was at the drift comp 2day...he was pretty good, but again, when your sponsored like that, youve got the money to strengthen a lil 1.8...
the sr20 is also more powerful (147kw or summin in the s15), IMO a better engine overall...i also think there is more parts available for the sr

tell me which motor you think you could get 300-350+hp out of most relibably and without extensive money?
Whats wrong with those rockers? nothing worth complaining about.
So one technological advantage of the ca18..my bad.
Any more resons one would rather a CA18?

I think maybe he is talking about which car is better to learn to drift in. You gotta start somewhere man.
To that end, if you are learning to drift - Keep the 180!

The rocker gear on SR20's is a known weak point when you start chasing big HP (and thus big cams/lots of RPM). CA18's are nearly bullet-proof, but for moderate upgrades it will cost more than an SR20 to get the power. If I was chasing big numbers though I'd choose the CA18 any day.
Actually, screw that, it's a Nissan! I'll take a 3S-GTE thanks.

i've heard the valve train on SR20's is rather piss poor, and thus a weak point(comming from a friend who's spent the last 6 months stripping heads for a rebuild place in brisbane)
he also stated that he'd much rather a CA18 than a SR20 if chasing powah
