18rgeu oil filter and cold start wiring

ok I read on here that the use of a z68 oild filter should fit an 18rgeu but no matter how hard i try i can't get it at an angle to go over the oil shafty to secure into place.
is there another filter that people use
the one i tried was a ryco oil filter z68
also could someone please show me how their cold start injector is wired up there is a green plug in the thermostat housing only with two plugs protruding from it.
and while i am at it i know people have mentioned it and they actually said that it related to the cold start injector, but how does the cold running system work, i assume more fuel should be going to the intake to maintain firing.
should the dizzy automatically retard/advance to help maintain firing, is there a way to ensure this vaccuum is working correctly
do i make any sense at all?
cheers

AFAIK the cold start injector only runs for a few seconds at startup and only if the coolant temp is low. ( I think like less than 3 secs)

ok then so if i don't worry about the cold start injector, how the hell do i keep this thing idling without having to do some funky heel toe thing for the first 4 minutes or so.
should the engine just rev higher when it is cold to maintain operation automatically like most new cars do?
shouldn't the automatic choke maintain correct running?
and also don't forget the side bit about what oil filter i should use?
cheers?

as for the oil filter, try z158 ryco. Thats what my 18rgeu uses.the original that was on there was longer but you could not get it on/off without taking the efi off. the z158 is shorter and can be replaced easily.

Regarding the oil filter thing.
Sounds like someone has put the oil filter bracket off an 18R on the engine.
The 18RG series oil filter bracket doesnt have the long anti-drain back piece. And yes the Z68 is the right filter.

cheers muchly
is it possible to change the oil filter bracket without having to pull everything apart? although i would have to source one obviously but that's what the parts for sale section is for.
as for the idling, if i adjust the screw anymore, it will fall out, when the car does warm up after the first 4 minutes, it idles roughly at about the 11 hundred mark which is already too high so i would be really loath to turn it up any more than what it is.
any other ideas?

Your engine has some sort of problem if it's behaving like that, and a CSI isn't going to fix it (even if it does hide it). Check your ignition and fuel mixtures, preferably with an exhaust gas analyser, and see if something's amiss.
FWIW my 18R-GEU has never had a functioning CSI and it starts and idles fine, even on cold mornings.

Don't worry about buying a new oil filter housing.Just cut the shaft off yours and you will have the same thing.
Ryco Z125 and Z418 also fit.
