My 98 Camry windscreen/washer hasn't been working for a while. I tested the 3 leads connected to the pump motor and they were all positive !!!!
I had the ignition on but wasn't pressing the squirter.
I had one test lead on the negative battery terminal and the other lead on a pin pushed through a lead at the back of the plug which was still attached to the motor.
This doesn't make sense to me - I'm glad I found this forum, hope someone can help.

the switch in the stalk is the ground. It touches the metal that connects to whichever speed to create the circuit and the off position is connected to nothing.
Thanks Chris, that makes sense OK, but I was expecting one of the wires going to the w/w motor to be zero and the grounding from the stalk to travel along it to complete the circuit - with all three wires positive there;'s no way for the ground to get there ?
I'm now thinking that the motor has broken and is shorting out the wires - I did the test with the plug connected because I could see no way to remove it - any clues ?
