The brake master cylinder bore size on an ST162 Celica SX Tue, 29 June 2004 02:39 Go to next message
As the title states, could someone with an ST162 Celica SX have a look and tell me what size the master cylinder bore is (should be cast into the side of it as an imperial measurement).

Thanks heaps in advance.

I searched here and the www and could not find a size for it.

Cheers.

Hopefully I found what you are looking for....mine says 15/16.

I found it on the side of the cylinder facing the strut tower, and at the left hand end, ie closest to the booster.

Thanks heaps for taking the time to do that Matt.

That is exactly what I needed to know, a 15/16" bore might be fine for what I need to do.

Thanks again.

Nah unfortunately it does not fit onto a TA22 booster. Very little does fit the 22 booster that has a bigger bore. Some that are rumoured to work (I have not checked so can not confirm) are:

Tercel 15/16
Starion which is either 15/16 or 1"
and there are a few others. My problem is that I don't have room for any other sized booster or master cylinder for a number of reasons (I am currently running a TA22 booster and a brand new master cylinder of some sort??).

The TA22 Celica has room, change to a different booster now with a larger bore master cylinder if you are thinking of a brake upgrade in the future, you will be glad you did.

With some minor firewall modifications you should be able to get most boosters to fit. You really need to know what calipers you are planning to fit and then fit an appropriate master cylinder. A 1 inch bore master cylinder will suit most caliper upgrades and several cars have these at the wreckers, just find the one that will most suit your car and brake lines.

Quite a few guys on here have done some really neat brake upgrades on their TA22's. You should post a thread and see what they have used.

Cheers.
