98km/h in 2nd in a Twin-Cam AE82??

One of my friends has a AE82 Twin-Cam with a stock 86kw 4AGE, he reckons it does 98km/h in second gear which I think is a crock of shit. Having gone over engine RPM calculations a number of times (using gear ratios and tyre circumferences etc. it seemed very clear that the car would be doing over 8200RPM) which seems very unrealistic on an engine with a 7500RPM redline.
Is he full of shit, or should i believe him?

I only care because he rates himself, and it pisses me off because he never shuts up and i just wanna prove him wrong to shut him up... as for driving with him... hell no... he's the biggest maniac i've ever driven with, he screams out the window at people doing 5k's under the speed limit while he goes past them at 40 something k's over the speed limit.

Tell him big fucking deal.
I can do 120km/h in 2nd.
And that's just before rev limiter kicks in.

Doesn't sound too far-fetched at all. I'm sure the car would happily get to that sort of speed in 2nd.. Overall acceleration would probably be faster if he shifted earlier, but if he really wants to flog the guts out of his engine.... *shrugs*

A mate of mine had one of these cars a few years ago and we hit 115kmph in second on plenty of occassions. So too answer your question yes it can be done, and if anyone says anything about toyotas and you think its a crock off shit, give your self an uppercut.
Cheers

i would most definetly agree that it can.
i hav a twincam ae82 (but with the 100kw engine)
and i hit bout 100km/hr before i hit 7000rpm.
i think the bigport engine would do it no probs.
once these 4age engine hit 5000rpm and above, look out!!!!
