I know this is no IT forum but .... HOW THE F DO I TURN OFF MESSENGER SERVICE !?!?!?

I THOUGHT I ALREADY HAD BUT POPUPS KEEP SOMING UP

Are you sure it's the messenger service? It's quite possible your PC has been "hijacked"... try running AdAware or similar and see what it comes up with.

i work at an ISP... i get these lovely questions everyday lol...

Win2k/XP:

Start > Settings > Control Panel >Administrative Tools > Services

Then find "Messenger" down the list, double click it.

Change Startup Type from "Automatic" to "Disable" then click stop down the bottom.

Click OK.

If there is anything else... run Adaware or something.
