i buy toyota genuine. costs a lot but worth it in my opinion.
a bunch of club 4ag guys tested 15 or so filters and toyota genuine was one of the best. i think the exxy aftermarket ones were better but not for the price.

I paid about $9 for my RYCO filter for my 1jz. I think regular changes are more important than buying the "very best" filter.

I just buy a Ryco one and change it at every 5000km with the oil instead of the recommended 10000km.

The ryco z386 is about a third of the price of a genuine filter. The real deal ones are exxxy!

Well it looks like the Filters are way overpriced
Like why are there millions of corollas on the planet and the filters are more expensive than say one for a car with only thousands made . !!!

Geniune Toyota Filters have a valve in them that prevents oil from draining from the head on the oil feed side.
Aftermarket filters do not.
On startup with A/M filter it takes time for oil to be pumped to the head resulting in a few seconds of no oil operation of a cold engine.
Toyota Genuine filters prevent this by holding oil in that supply line.
I dont know this from my own experience but have information from a reliable source.
Dont scimp on oil filters !!

So there is three types of Toyota Oil Filters to do all models
Just finished contacting a supplier and organizing a Deal .
I have the follow price for all the filters
$12
But i have to get a minimum quanity of 150
So that 50 each type
up to 82
from 82 > 92
from 92
If you work that out that roughly a third to half the price that most of us are paying .
So two to three oil changes for free
Hopefully cheaper if a can get more
So Who is interested ??

You're all a pack of whinging tightarses. I don't think I've ever heard something so funny in my entire life
Oil filter $18, engine rebuild $3000... think about it kiddies
Half you people probably don't even service your cars regularly anyway - 9,000km? On a 'performance' car? You've gotta be joking!
IMO all cars should be serviced every 5,000kms... particularly if it fits one of these criterion:
* your engine is already getting on a bit
* you wring it's neck
* it is a highly strung engine
* you get off on being oiled up
If you think about it, a daily driver also goes through more heat cycles (short trips) than a performance car so being a daily is probably no excuse for poor servicing.
It's also a great feeling to know that everything on your car is ridgy-didge.

Pay me now or pay me later, oh what a feeling.
Lets see, $19 for oil filter, $65-90 for 5 litres of oil, changed every 4-5000kms religiously.
Maybe you should go and buy a holden/ford and stick to their 20,000km service recommendations, that oughta keep the oil & filter prices in check

Its just a extra cost , thats way to much for a SERVICE part compaired to a other vehicles . I totally agree that the oil should be changed ever 5.000 klm { but i will not go into oils }. But i think that most of the people here would use there cars for daily driving , not just "performance" use .
If you really want to go further into Servicing we can for sure . Which types of manufacture would you like to discuss servicing and costing labour times etc ? This is a list of Manufactures i have worked for and done service costing / routines for .
MG group before Bmw take over
Saab { before and after Gm take over }
Landrover
RangeRover { during and after Bmw take over }
Alfa Romeo { before and after 48% sales of company from fiat to Gm }
Peugeot
Maserati { Before and after Ferrari take over }
Ferrari
Bentley
Ford
Honda
And run fleets of Toyotas .
Yes that should show my age
I was just wanting peoples views on there costing retail .
Because these filters are a rip off for most Japanese cars i have come across , not just at a Retail level but also at trade discount level { which most larger manufactures / dealer is only 10% less , which doesn't help with GST } .

I'll be needing a few oil filters soon once my new engine's up & running, so I went to Toyota & bought a box of 10 oil filters, for $11.40 each. I figure I'll be using all of them in the first year of driving.
It'll save me having to drive there & back every time I need an oil change too.

I was just investigating them actually. i have bought a K&N oil filter for my rebuilt 3sge at a reasonable price of $20, $32 at some places. I am tho currently using a Toyota Genuine Denso I got for $18. I dont compromise for the car. I match them with Mobil 1 oil. Works wonderfully well!
