Firefox is your friend.
Stops all popups unless you click on a link to open a popup window (like with NetBanking).
You also have control over what JavaScripts to allow (resizing/moving windows etc).
No need to worry about ActiveX exploits and shit like that.
It's also shitloads faster than IE.
And once you live with tabbed browsing, you can't go back.

The only annoying thing Firefox does over Mozilla though is separate the search and address bars like IE and the crappy Google toolbar. Mozilla having it the search as part of the address bar is about the only reason I use it.

i would prefer to keep using IE epsecially cause when my little sis gets on thats what shell be using too.

I thought that too, until I clicked on Add Engines...
That little search thing is pretty good! Although I'd prefer the interface to be in the address bar like Mozilla.

I use IE and have no popups. I love it's built in popup blocker.
Just a hint for the confused, go and try to get the public version of XP SP2. It's around someplace, I dunno where though since I get my copies from MS through another way.

"Spybot - Search and destroy" gets rid of most of my popups. Also get Zone Alarm and an always on virus scanner. Can't stress that enough.
I'm thinking of moving to Mozilla though, since my most recent virus that took me a lot of hard work to get rid of (virus scanners couldn't clean it, neither could Ad-Aware).
If you sister is going to sites that add popups you should probably tell her to stop going to those sites. Imagine what else is being downloaded by those websites.

Get Zone Alarm. Should fix the problem.
Try upping the security of your browser too. It may compromise your browsing experience, but wont compromise your computer. You may also have a virus, you should check that out.

Yeah, I run spybot aswell.
Once again, if you don't have Zone Alarm personal Firewall, get it. It's fantastic and will protect you from some nasties, as well as blocking popups and if you configure it, telling you when your web browser is about to send things like your password or home address or bank number across the internet. Realy good as you can just click "yes" if you deliberatly want to submit it, or "no" if some spyware program is trying to send it.

I'm suprised no-one has said Opera. It has built in popup blocker, and its by far the best tabbed browser around. Mozilla is really only half a tabbed browser, Opera is a proper tabbed browser. Its also imho the most user friendly in terms of usability, having mouse gestures to do most things. All in all, it rocks! http://www.opera.com

You might try FINDnFIX or CWShredder. They are both free. As allways, make sure you get the REAL copies of FINDnFIX or CWShredder. There are a lot of fake spyware removers out there that make you pay for them and usualy contain spyware.
Actualy, before you try FINDnFIX or CWShredder, go grab "Hijack this" and post the log file it creates on the Tech Support Guy Security Forums. The help from there is how I got rid of my problem.

Firefox with tabbrowser extension. I can't live without the tabbrowser extension. Saves your tabbed sessions, allows you to drag and drop tabs, adds "Undo close tab" functionality, reload every xx, gives you the option to open certain things (like bookmarks and searches) in new tabs by default, and heaps, heaps more.
As for mouse gestures, there's about 5 different extensions for Firefox that give you mouse gestures. Pick and choose the one you want.
And, unlike Opera, it's all free.

Bookmark tab groups... You can open a bunch of sites in different tabs from just one bookmark option...
Bookmarks->pr0n->Open in tabs

Nark you can do the same thing with MYIE2 but its only about 660kb's compressed. It uses a internet explorer back end which means it will run on most computer that have internet explorer installed.
Plus its freeware which mean no licence so i use it at work.

Nark, everything you've said about Firefox comes as default in Opera, and its also so much smaller. Plus, being someone that knows their way around the web, I'm sure having to pay for software isn't something that you do everytime a new version of Photoshop comes out
Like I said before, I reckon Opera is the best cause out of the box it is awesome, and is so user friendly. You have to mod Firefox to make it do what Opera does by default.

Well companies buy it as they can get in a LOT of trouble if they dont. And I imagine most mid sized and above companies have more money than you. If they don't, can I have some money? There is a 1998 JZA80 Turbo I have had my eye on.

Blackice is like a reverse firewall, it lets everything in and out. It's like rooting in mexico without a rubber.
The standard one in XP is far better. And even moreso with the upgrades to it from SP2.
ZA I just don't trust. They had serious flaws in the past.
But for a commercial one, look at Agnitum outpost pro.
