I also have another question which I will also put in the tech section.

Are there any forged pistons to fit in a 3k engine that will drop the CR to around 8.1:1?

Also what about some heavy duty rods? Or will I most likely need these specially made?

I thought that the 3K was 8.5:1 CR, why drop it futher. If you want I think that wisco make them. If nut then get the die grinder into the combustion chambers.

UPDATE: The 3T KE30 has been sold a while ago to shane whos username is shane.
Bought another rolla on new years eve and she is a KE35

Yr; 1978
Model; Ke35
Motor; 4K
Trans; 3 speed Borg Warner
Diff; 4.3 Borg Warner
Rust; yes but only above the rear left guard
Kms; is say 185000 but its wavy
Rims; stock and tyres are balding

Future; send head out to be modded with hardened valve seat for intake and exhaust, lower compression; must find a Norman Vane Supercharger for my mod'ed manifold.

It depends on what 3k motor. But its got more to do with the head then the block and pistons itself.
From the book its
3k 9:1
3k-d, 3k-b 10:1
3k-h 9:1
3k-c 8.5:1

Almost everything.
The 35's are coupes aren't they?
Is the 55 a 4dr or coupe?
If they are both the same (ie both 4dr or both coupe) then I would say there isn't much that you couldn't swap although others may be able to confirm/deny this.

PS. *Note the peeny ke30 brake booster that resides because of the fact that the ke55 PBR booster and master cylinder would have not cleared the carbs.

It basically feels like I don't have a booster now!

BradW remember I was maybe going to ask for your help with finding a booster?

I have since found out, that alot of race cars don't actually run boosters!! Improved production/ etc.

And yes I think you will find that pretty much everything will change between the 30/35/and 55's.

About the only difference between the models is front panels, taillights and interior trim .
About the only hard bit of swapping something from the '55 to the '30 would be the rear swaybar, the '30 doesn't have one .
AFAIK the windscreen is body specific . Might look into it one day . Unless someone else aready knows Smile

Is the booster close to the carbs or only the master cyl.
Could you run the KE30 master cyl on the KE55 booster?
I am going to use a AE71 booster on my KE30. The KE30 master cyl will bolt up to it (although I am going to use an AE71 master cyl as well because I need 13/16" master cyl for my brakes) and it bolts straight to the firewall with no mods. Also would the car pass rego without a booster?

Quote:

BradW remember I was maybe going to ask for your help with finding a booster?

Sure do. If you want I'll fit the AE71 booster on the weekend and take some pics.

Quote:

towe_001: As far as I know this is correct. My boss has an Escort and an Anglia (both circuit use only) and neither runs a booster for this reason.

Theres a bracket on the chassis rail you'll need to grab as well. Its for the swaybar link. One each side.

Is this the one that is bolted to the chassis rail? If so I have them. Do you know if the bolt holes are on the KE30 for these brackets? I suppose I could get off my lasy arse and go and have a look Laughing .

Unfortunatly the PBR booster runs a diagonal pattern, where as the jap spec 30 booster and cyl. is horizontal. So no, they are not compatable. The only thing that is close now is one of the brake pipes touches one of the sock filters.

I was running k&n flat filters before the socks and they cleared aswell, but only just!

You really have to jump on the pedal to make it pull up, and yes you get better feel! It reminds me of a go kart!

I would like to see pics of the ae booster mate!

Now all I have to do is get it to handle better! A bit floaty!!

Loves to rev though, 7000rpm all day! (but still not real fast)

Hey everyone! You may remember me from such crazyness as The Fridge of Fury (MS112 Crown with 7MGTE, R154 box and R32 front brakes). I now have a KE70 sedan, with a clutch-tearing 4K and 4sp, speed dents, Light-Weight-Race-Rust and sone recently aquired sigma 14" alloy rims and 185/65/14 michelin tyres.

The plan is to prove that anyone can take a cheap car and get it onto the race track for less than a grand (car included). It'll be motorkhana'd and supersprinted for the purposes of a magazine article hopefully!

But in the meantime, if anyone has a heavy duty front sway bar, or a stock one (I have doubled them up before with great success!) and springs that are a bit heavier than stock (cheap of course!) then let me know! Very Happy

So far it owes me a total of $450, and has rego till august.

Gee nobody has posetd here for a while! But i am also a KE 55 lover as it was my first car. I am now currently in the market for one, coupe or sedan, no matter to me, just a good run-about witrh little rust and a good ammount of rego. Want to spend only about $1000 so if anyone has one they want to sell me then let me know. Also, must be manual...........and red is also better, but no way essential, red cars go faster!

Hey people. I have been looking for mounts for my ke25 to suit a 4age 16v. My bro has a set of custom engine mounts but the cross member mounts are off a te27 with the 2t engine. I know it is off a te27 cause it has a partt number on it so i went to toyota and asked a guy to put it in the computer and it came up with the 2t engine from a te27. So has anyone done/seen this before?

AE Booster looks good brad.

and hokey: yes it will hit. The problem is the large square master cylinder. Unfortunatly you can't put a jap spec cylinder on the pbr booster as it has different stud arrangement.

You need the booster either like the ae one or the standard 30 one pictured above. but the main thing is you will need the skinny tandem m/cylind also pictured above. The pbr master cylinder is square, and has a square reseviour on top of it.

Sorry i meant just the mounts for the engine. I'll take some pictures soon and show you what i mean.
I have asked this because everyone with the 4age's in there cars have said that they bought it like that or they got someone to make it up for them. So i was wondering if anyone had done it like this?

Well hokey, you can see how close the carbs come to the little ke30 jap m/c:
http://img199.exs.cx/img199/5981/corolla20040gz.jpg

then if you imagine the pbr m/c in its place, which has most of its bulk off-set towards the engine:
http://img199.exs.cx/img199/2946/corolla20029uy.jpg

I think it would be extremely close.

Here's what I mean about the brake pipe hitting the filter:

Hope this helps!!

kool thanx for that. yeh so wot do u think i hsould do get a jap spec ke30 master cylinder or get AE71 M/C and booster and put them on? will that just bolt right in? and would a T18 master bolt up to KE30 booster cause i hav one and complete struts from a T18 and am thinkin of puttin them in for a brake upgrade. So wot do u think is my best option?

KE30 master cyl is 3/4" bore whereas the AE71 master is 13/16" bore. If you are keeping the standard brakes you would be better off to use a master cyl the same size as standard. The bore size is marked on the side of the master cyl.

If you are using the T18 struts and brakes then you could use either the T18 master cyl or the AE71 master cyl as they are both the same size. It would also be good to use a booster of similar size to the T18 one.

As you can see in the pics above the KE30 master cyl bolts straight up to the AE71 booster and the AE71 booster bolts straight into the car Very Happy

hey Brad, what calipers are you running/ going to run? So you've got a standard ke30 m/c on an ae71 booster, so you have comparable calipers to an ae71? what engine are you running?

I want to upgrade my brakes but have 13 inch wheels, and don't want to get larger ones. if the t18 booster will clear my carbs, and t18 calipers will fit under 13s(which i am confident they will), then thats the next step i will take.

My brake upgrade is in the link below
http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=50667&rid=5379&S=40cc9febbf5afbd93955cf4 7d7021c88

I only bolted the KE30 master cyl to the AE71 booster to show that it fit. I will probably use an AE71 master cyl (as it is the same size bore as the RA40) on the AE71 booster.

AE71 master cyl is the same size as T18 so it should work with the T18 brakes.

The RA40 brakes need 14" wheels. I got a set of corona steel wheels which I'll use to keep that sleeper look Cool . The wheels in the picture are too wide and the wrong offset.

Well this is my dilemma.

I bought a KE55 a couple of years ago with a 2TG in it which I stripped for parts so I have everything I need to fit this into my KE30.

I also have a 4AGE with almost everything I need to fit it into my KE30 although I will need to do some fabrication to fit this.

The plan was to just use the 2TG as I'm on a tight budget and would need to spend more money to fit the 4AGE but things have changed and now it's all systems go for the 4AGE.

I'm hopefully pulling the 3K out this weekend (time permitting) so things should progress pretty well, although I'm in no hurry to finish it.

just wondering if anybody has any knowlage of the following. i know that a sprinter T50 gearbox requires modification to the tunnel in a ke55 because of the shifter being in a different location but ive herd that a TA22 T50 fits properly. i was wondering if its possible to use a TA22 shifter in a sprinter T50 and have it work?

thanks

I think its just because of the extension housing that the shifter sits further back. Don't quote me on it, but I think the T18 T50 has a similar issue. And from memory, a bloke told me he uses a ta22 celica t50 with a t18 extension housing to make the shifter closer to him. So you might be able to use a celica shifter on a t18 or sprinter box.

I run a TA22 celica t50 and it comes straight out the original hole. But, the 22 t50s are all becoming fairly worn out now, where tongue of the shifter sits in the top of the box, so it might be worth extending the existing the trans hole back a bit to use the newer box.?

My first car was a KE20 Wagon, after seizing the 1200 (we thought) we slotted a rebuilt 1500 into, then found out that the starter motor was dead.
It was a great little car, i still regret selling it. Occasionly i see one on the road now and just think, man, i would love it get another and rebuild it.

maybe soon.
