actually it's piss easy.
the engine number is on the front of the block because it is most likely from the first run of 3K's and came from a KE11/KE17, or maybe as a leftover in an early KE20.
the head will have the number 24010 on it, and it has 30mm intake ports, and also has double groove valves with o-rings instead of valve stem seals.
as to why the oil pump doesn't fit.. i know do you?

You've most likely stuffed up somewhere. Have you tried resetting the valves ? You haven't played around with the cam at all ? Like pulling the chain off and moved the crank (or maybe the cam), something like that. Cause that can do wonders with losing compression.
Did you get the head checked before you fitted it the block ? Cause the head could be warped or cracked.
You did use a new gasket, yes ? Just a question. Cause i've done it once without thinking...
One of the 3k motors did have lower compression. I think it was the 3K-D, i did post it some time back, just have a look back through the thread you'll find it cause i can't be stuffed
Urm, yeah i think that about covers it all. Check your valve lash, if thats fine pull the head and make sure its not warped.

Have you got everything that you need to do the swap ?
There's nothing worse then having a car thats out of comission cause of something important was forgotten, like the driveshaft for example. Someone else on here would most like be able to answer that one cause i wouldn't have a clue if the driveshafts are of different lengths or not.
