haha, funny little head!
Twincam16 and ae92 fx gt specs Fri, 02 July 2004 13:14 Go to next message
I currently own an ae92 sx with the smallport 100kw 4age motor. I have just purchased an 88 model ae92 2 door fx gt hatch with a big port 86kw 4age. I have been looking for ages on the net for performance specs of the fx gt and can't find any. I am primarily after 0-100 times, i know the sx is approx 9.5 seconds and wanted to know how much the big port differed, Specs for the ae82 twincam16 hatch would be just as good although i know the ae92 is slightly heavier.

If anyone can help me out with fx gt specs or even aus spec stock ae82 twincam16 specs it would be greatly appreciated!

the auspec twincams are supposed to do 0-100's in 10 seconds, Well there abouts.

i have a 100kw ae82 with basic pod filter, and i think my 0-100's would be low 9's. (although my gear box always crunches second gear for some reason when changing from 1st at high rpm)

the ae92 Gti and SX do 0-100 in a claimed 9.5 seconds, so i rekon mine would be low 9's just cause the car is a little lighter.

thanks! that is about what i thought it would be. 2nd gear crunching is supposably a common prob with 4age rollas. My sx must be lucky as it doesn't do it, i have only reved it past 5000 a couple of times though. Hope the fxgt is good aswell, it should be as it has only done 70,000kms!

The "claimed" 9.5 second 0-100 time is about a second slower than what is easily achievable in an SX/GTi.

Don't know how the AE92 would perform with the 86kw motor.. Might need a bit of work to get it boogeying Wink

0-100kms in low 8 Seconds is possible with the 4AGE's both 86kw/100kw (I've driven both and know they can do this for sure)

These motors make peak torque at around the 6K mark (depending on your mods) I finding shifting at 6.5K - 7k which i did to achieve my time and depending on your clutch/flywheel and transition the revs would drop down close to 4600-900RPM. You really have to find the torque band and stay in it

61kw at the wheels slowly getting tired with the engine (lots of milage done weekly.. 300-400kms i have lost 0.9kw since january)
