83mm ca18det pistons. Fri, 02 July 2004 14:11 Go to next message
has anyone here ever tried the 83mm ca18det pistons in a 4age/ze? these have the same 20mm gudgeon pin.
i have seen reference to 4agze and later 7 rib 4age's running these pistons on the net before.

as the bore would need to be over bored by 2mm, how would that effect the heat of the engine and it's between bore strength? (specialy in a boosted application).

anyone seen it done? and know what c/r they are.

It would all depend on how far you can bore a 4age/ze.

try www.club4ag.com their tech is the best i have seen yet.
i have read it is possible to do an 83mm bore but be wary of it getting too thin between bores and having head gasket troubles.
but search is your best friend here.

i have been searching Alainve, and still am. Smile
but also would like to know if anyone that frequents this forum has had any up close experience with the topic and knows about these pistons.

mmm.. yeah headgasket thickness between bores might be the worst problem. Confused

good to see your doing your research but sorry ive no direct expeience here. but try to find valve angles of both heads and valve positions to see if the flycutting on the pistons will line up correctly. there may be issues there

unless your going with aftermarket ca18det pistons your flogging a dead horse, 4agze pistons are much much better

thanks for the reply Josh. one thing i havnt seen yet on the net is reference to whether they are forged like the gze ones and their c/r.?? (spose i need to search some nissan forums).

the only reason i am looking at the idea is a friend may still have a set that i would get much cheaper than the gze ones, so thought it might be worth a shot. Confused
