ummm... a 1G-GZE is a 2 litre not 3.

have you searched thru the cars for sale section or members rides to see what similar vehicles go for?

well i dont think the 3 litre engines - 2JZ or the 7M came - with a supercharger... in factory form they both have a twin turbo version (2JZ-GTE and 7M-GTE)

and legally i am reasonably sure you can't fit a 3 litre supercharged engine in a 76 celica (tho expect that opnion to be challenged)?

and there's probably not enuf room for this kind of install in hat engine bay?

If it came from an early model supra (GA series?), then it probably is a 2 litre 1G-GZE.

there's a RA somewhere in brisbane with a 1JZ-GTE in it (2.5litre twin turbo) - plus someone at the Gold Coast was selling an RA60 with 1JZ in it.

fwiw - stuffing a 1G-GTE into a 76 celica is a great deal of fun- Kirk's RA with 1G-GTE looked and sounded like sex-on-a-stick.

what ever the engine is, i think you'd want to see the engineering approval of the install - otherwise, if you get defected you have to get it all legit (e.g. spend large sum of money) before being allowed back on the road.

well...
engine: $1k
w57/8 g/box: $500
install: $1k
(if done by someone else)
bits: $1k
(tailshaft, cooling, etc)

then look at prices of 76 celica's with new paint, rubber and brake...

remember, the search button is your friend.

add another 1k into that equation and you could have yourself a gen
3 1g gte with w58 gearbox
(2200 for a halfcut)

could be a very fun car to drive - but get some pics and confirm the details and the engineering approval - take it for a test drive and see what i does around town and freeway.

you're probably paying around $3 for the car (sans motor) - so you'd want to be reasonably happy about the paint & body - but don't expect it looking like brand new car.

from what you have said that it beats r33 and gen 3,s it may have had a pretty hard life but its definatly a head turner, just make sure somehow that your not going to be stuck on the side of the freeway just after oyu pick it up, theres nothing worse, you also may be so excited at how good it goes that your not listening for noises and other probs but if it all checks out. cool you got a pretty cool car

Yep thats Dave marley-wallace's old car great engine, had a water to air intercooler, few bumps around the sill height but an absolute rocketship to drive, assuming its still in the same good mecahnical condition, was a cuastom paint job by a guy from the states who was an airbrush specialist.

its got the genuine engineers cert. too

keen for tafe next (as i go to canberra for it) and just rocking and showin her off.. yea!!

final price was 7, which im fair please about as its a pretty clean car, from what i saw. with no leaks at all.

being old it does have afew rattles and stuff, but i still love it. might have to shorten the gear shifter abit though.

thanks for all replys Wink

This was a great car and it was a sad day to see it leave the club. Dave put a hell of a lot of work into the car and it really showed the workmanship was top notch.

I thought this car was a bargain when it was advertised for a couple of thousand dollars morethan this, lucky I'm squandering all my money on my AW11 or I'd be on my way to Canberra about now.

There are definately pics of the car in the gallery from when we went to small car sunday, pics of it from here in Fast Fours and Hot 4's.

The bonnet strut would have (I assume) been just for the puposes of the show as the factory hinges can be a little annoying if a wind comes up.
