Do Toyota keys use code hopping? Sun, 04 July 2004 11:06 Go to next message
You know the lock/unlock buttons on the Toyota master keys with remote locking? Well, do these use code hopping technology to prevent being scanned and allowing a thief to unlock the car using a learned code?

Basically, a decent alarm system will support code hopping .. but I am just wondering if it would be a wise idea to hook up an alarm to arm/disarm based on when the Toyouta key lock and unlock buttons are pushed. Because if these are not code hopping, a thief can easily use this to disable the alarm system and unlock the doors at the same time.

I believe that only two master keys can be active at the one time... So a theif will not be able to unlock the car with a seperate remote... Although, there's nothing stopping the theif hurling a brick or forcing enrty with a screwdriver...

If you want to install an alarm, look at the Toyota Alarm Upgrade options...

I work for Toyota so yeah, I know a bit here... Whereas I reckon toymods is Old Skool Celica based... When will they learn No No No No No No No No No ...
