G'day all, just wondering on how much you can take off a standard rg flywheel, just a standard rg motor. Confused

Cheers

after seeing some pics of someone who had lightened their flywheel, i'd strongly reccommend not skimping out and lightening the stock unit. go out and buy a proper one, unless of course u dont value/need your legs. Confused

Thanks mate, so is it worth it on a standard rg? Confused I wont be hammering it too hard as it is my daily driver. Very Happy By the way where did you see the pics? Ive never seen a flywheel let go except at the drags.

worth it as in having your legs chopped off for the sake of improved acceleration?

Are you thinking of taking it to the track because I dont know if i'd bother just for the sake of a little quicker accelation on the road.

i was told not to take much off an 18RG flywheel by an apparently reliable source, but RA_28 from these forums has had one in his car for 6 years and its fine, i picked it and a stock one up, each in one hand, and i reckon it was 1/3 the weight, when i do my clutch i'm gonna buy it off him

is that the same flywheel as a 22RE cause they look like they have heaps of meat that can be taken off them. i'm doing it to my standard one.

I wouldn't do it to an RG flywheel as they are a funny shape and not much can be taken off them.
For street use leave it std.
If it's for race use like i will be doing then best to get one made in my opinion.Esp when there is stuff all between your legs and the bellhousing.
