Hi all,
I've just ordrered a Haltech E6X for the 1JZGTE
(see: http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_info.php?cPath =&products_id=92),
with a few other goodies. I'm planning on sticking with factory coils and ignition module for starters (no pun intended ). But, as it will be a waste-spark set-up, hopefully pushing in excess of 210rwkw, I'm wondering how long til I need to consider swapping to Haltech's gear (assuming my coils and ignition set-up is in excellent condition, for argument's sake). I've already got Skip's experience to work from - but I'm just wondering if anyone else could add more?
cheers,
Justin

Yeah mate well my ignition broke down at 4500rpm which was 200rwhp (probably higher hp levels on transfercase less cars) with the standard ignition module. As you know two haltech ignition modules solved this.

The 1JZ ignition setup is identical to the 2JZ setup.
A Friend is pushing 800hp in his 2jz Supra with stock coils. we even put my 1JZ coils in (same part number) to trouble shoot a igition problem which ended up being the wiring to the Haltech instead.
I've used the whole 2jz igition system on my 1JZ to troubleshoot before aswell.
Everyone I have spoken to is that over 500hp the igition module can't keep up. Something like the HKS Twinpower would be the go.
My Friend is using a MSD.

from the research i have done there are several 2jzgte supra that have come out of SUB ZERO in QLD and they are pushing 387rear wheel kilowatt running a microtech and just the standard coils and they are having no problems what so ever.
