Carby on Mazda Capella held on with wire. It sucked heaps of air but somehow still worked. We actually got defected for bald tyres and not having the front fender bolted at the bottom.. Laughing It was just flapping around. But the dumbasses didnt even notice the wired on carby... Laughing
Needless to say we, drove it to the tip the next day.

I got one for no tyre placard (you know that sticker that tells you original tyre size and pressure?). Try to find one of them for a 1977 car!

Also indicators flash when doors open - duh its the car alarm doing that.

Cruising with a mate, turning left at lights. He takes off hard, out to top of first, chirps into second and then backs off. Commodore behind lights up like a christmas tree and pulls us in.

(LC Torana, 350ci, extractors through the inner guards, etc. etc. and P plates!)

Cop 1: Pop the bonnet son.
<<pop>>
Cop 1: (looks in, over the extractors, over the firewall mod, etc. etc... mate has the standard air cleaner on the 850 Holley with "4.2 Litre" decal from 253..)
Cop 1: (to second cop at rear of car squirting torch over huge rear tyres) Is he allowed to drive a 4.2L on his P's?
Cop 2: Yeah, yeah, 253 is okay in a Torana. (as an OEM fitment in LX maybe...)
Cop 1: Settle down son, on your way now...

whilst not being a defect, i was pulled over for an rbt one night late. i had a microtech handcontroller mounted temporarily on my dash. the officer saw it and proceeded to ask all the wrong questions. i told him it was one of those jaycar kits which tells you your battery voltage. he liked it so much, i think you may have seen him in the local shop the next day trying to get one.
i think if you act confident, and not like a tool, i think a lot of them let plenty of "known" problems slip through to the keeper...

A mate of mine got devected for blad rear tyres. The story is that there were blad but they were yokohama street slicks (the track tyres with tread), so sticky stuff. When the cop was giving the defect we went on about u hoons doing burn outs and shit with your slicks!, my mate try to explan that they are for traction that is the whole point of "Street Slicks", not for burn outs, after 5min he still didn't garsp the concept, stupid copper!

But there are some smart mother of coppers out there now!

Pulled p the same mate and hears the big full pump still winding over and goes, ummmm pop ya bonnet, and witht he Sr20 and shit, instanly point out that not a standard turbo, (it only a HKS GT28 on stock manifold so that good work to point that work, and got him for catch can with venting to atmoshpere, etc.

well we didn't get defected, but ona criuze with some mates, we all got RBT, me and jake with our fog lights on got told to turn them off, for me this is easily done, how ever jakes celica doesn't have a cut out switch and there for proceeded to turn off all of his lights, the copper merely thanks him and let him drive off with them off at night after he passed the breath test, needless to say i pissed my self laughing afterwards.

oh damn i'll have to put those hooks into the boot to keep the bodies tired down...jk how did they find out that it wasn't secure properly?

oh and remember to ask 3 things guys
- do you suspect me of being in possession of drugs?
- do you have a warrent?
- are you of the rank of inspector or above?

if the answers to the these questions are no, they shouldn't be allowed to search the car!!! however i would just say that you will not use force to restrain them, however you will make an enquiry!

Wasn't a defect notice, but when I moved to Brizzy I still had my two-door HQ Monaro, with Vic Rego.

Fair dinkum, I was pulled over AT LEAST weekly, and one night, on Racecourse Rd, they got me out of the car, searched the entire vehicle (including boot etc) and even pulled the ash trays out of the door trims, and emptied the contents into plastic bags!

Shortly after that, I sold it, and bought a HJ V6-24....that ironically flogged the Monaro for pace, yet I never got pulled over in!

Sheesh,

R

umm i thought that only applied if they were above the rank of inspector, oh well i have nothing to hide anyways, except for the filter that is in my car, and most cops from what i have heard probably wouldn't care.

if you dont let them search your car they will most likely call their superior and make you wait until they get a warrant... it wastes your time as much as theirs and they will most likely harass you further.

i've seen a guy getting breath tested walking to his car, in a servo parking lot. Breath tester was faulty so they held the guy till another car turned up with 1 that worked.

oh well if you failed a breath test on the way to your car wouldn't you just not get in your car to drive. there is not law against drinking, only drinking and driving, they can only book you if they saw you driving!!!

One would think that they would be legally obliged to stop you from getting in your car if you did prove to be over the limit... Rolling Eyes

If you wanted to make an issue out of it, I guess drunk and disorderly.

Just to let you know, from what i've heard u don't actaully have to be driving to get done for drink driving. I was at a party when someone parked his car in the driveway, and as he got out his mate handed him a beer bottle. Police were in attendance, and the second he opened the beer bottle he lost his license. I think its something to do with being in possession of the keys (just as young ppl (e.g. little kids) arent allowed to be sitting in the drivers seat of a car in a parking lot with the radio on or something, waiting for their parents). The police did not seem to care that he clearly had no intention to drive his car.

Yeah, apparently if you are intoxicated and the keys are in the ignition you can be done for DUI.

In the case you speak of white86, if he had no intention of driving his car, he may have been able to make a case out of it.

I was pulled over for a "random" inspections (I had a monaro, not a 2 door commodore Very Happy ) and following that, they said "my seat belt was too damaged" I told them that the car passed for rego 3 days before Mad Mad but they still defected me. And they they wondered why I abused them!!! damn pigs Mad
