BLUE SLIP Wed, 07 July 2004 08:30 Go to next message
Hey people, i recently purchsed the "cheap fast car" on this forum. Ive spent hundreds on it so far and money is running short now. I tried to get a blue slip 2day, and there was a list that i needed to fullfill.
1 - minor engine bay rust
2 - rear rite bearings need to be adjusted
3 - need a muffler (the zorst system was only a 2.25" pipe from dump to resonator to rear.
4 - oil leak

The car is a 1983 ford turbo laser. 50 were released with turbo, so no engineer cert is needed.

For the above, i need around 300 bucks to get them done (provided my cuz does the rust for me)

But i just dont have 300 on me rite now. I only have enuf to cover for blue slip, ctp, and rego.

I will get around to doing the 4 things on the check list, just not now.

Does any1 no a place that does blue slip that wont look to harshly on the above 4 and pass my car for the blue slip?

I live in the bankstown area so sumwhere located not to far away would be ideal.

Anyhelp would greatly be appreciated.

man i live in the same area... I FEEL SO SORRY FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this area is so fucked up now you cant get away with anything no matter how small

all i can say is get to know a mechanic and get to know him well!!!!!!! get him to do everything and anything and eventually they will do shit for you.

unfortunately the time frame you have doesnt help, it took me 2 years to get shonkies passed by my mechanic (hell i would get him to do my timing AND I HAVE A TIMING GUN AND KNOW HOW TO ADJUST IT)

but to get passed do this:- Rolling Eyes
- OIL LEAK : degreaser an hour before you get it checked so that the water can dry
- RUST : $5 niki, $1 sand paper, $10 spray can primer & $10 paint
- MUFFLER : hopefully $10 wrecker muffler and AROUND $30 to get it fitted (unless you got an oxy)
- BEARING - just go get it adjusted

HOPE IT HELPS!!!!!!! Very Happy

Hey fade-e,
yeah i no my mechanic real well...and hes the one thats helped me so much wiv my car. Im lucky to have a cuz that noes heaps of ppl....the mechanic did so much shit to my engine n the car which would cost ppl up to a thousand, yet i got it done for a great price. Very Happy
As for shonkies...my mechanic referred me 2 one...its gonna cost me 250bucks. But to be honest wiv u...wiv dat kinda money the repairs can be done and i can get it the proper way, at the same tym ensuring my car is 110% road worthy n no pigs can fcuk me up Evil or Very Mad
But as i said...money is at a low...n if i go shonky...i wont have enuf for rego...so no point...
- Oil leak, yeah i degreased it an hour b4...but there was ONE drop n the dude was such an asswipe, he goes oil leak, get it fixed...can u believe it? ONE fcukn drop!!!!
- Rust can be done free by cuz
- Muffler. My pipe is 2.25inch...stock one just wont work. Cheapest quote i got was $150 at bankstown mufflers for a second hand fart cannon 4inch (bit too big n loud for me to be honest..the smaller the better for me) fitted.
- Bearing. i have no idea where to get this adjusted? How much am i looking at adjusted? How much replaced?

If ne1 noes of blue slip place that will pass...tops Very Happy
If not, then does ne1 no of where id be able to get a cheaper/better deal on the muffler and bearing point?

Thanks heaps.

(Editted by moderator, this kind of attack on a business is not welcome on Toymods. We want to keep this forum running and not be getting lible and slander law suites.)

i use car line mufflers in lakemba on punchbowl rd... i got my 2inch extractors 4-1 with 2inch all the way, empty resonator Rolling Eyes and sports muffler (yes it sounds much louder than a V8, turbo and some rotors Evil or Very Mad but is still a 1.8carby Sad )done for $550 the lot and painted black Laughing

i dont really know them that well and thats the price so i would try them. but i have found that all car line muffler places are heaps cheap man... airy b bankstown mufflers

depending where it leaks then SILICON is your friend otherwise just before you rock up there, pull over and with a rag give a wipe once more Rolling Eyes

as for bearing??? Confused how do you adjust a bearing? Confused i know you grease a bearing and you adjust the bolt thats holds the caliper to the hub but adjusting the bearing Confused

Yeah they're the ones.
Really? I thort they are orite for their prices? Embarassed
I mean i got a 2 n half inch brand new mandrel bent dump pipe and flex coupling fitted and painted black as well as new gaskets for $200?
My system isnt leaking newhere at all, just i need a muffler...its just a pipe....no muffler at all....i dun care wot muffler i get, fart cannon second hand or new woteva, as long as its not loud, (the pipe i got now is a nice purr) and is cheaper then $150 ill be happy. Do you have their number? That is car line mufflers in lakemba...ill give em a buzz 2moz n ask em for a quote..if they can fix me up wiv a fart cannon installed for under $150, they got themselves another customer Very Happy
Ahhh..bearing. Well the guy pointed out to me, that my rear rite tyre, could move EVER sooo slightly. That is, left to rite, up to down, it wasnt completely stationary...it moved like about 1mm either direction. Ne pointers on that? Sad

Yeah Fade-e,
its a good cheap muffler at this stage, but in 2days, price will go to about 150ish level..ive been having a look at mufflers on ebay....cheapest one went for like 90 bucks plus 20bucks postage. N it was a 5inch tip....too big for my liking...
Thanks tho Fade-e for looking out.
