Hi all,

I thought now that we are about 4 weeks out from the Track Day it would be good to get a bit of a roll call going and make sure that people are aware that it's going to cost about $120 (i.e. if need be start saving some dollars for the event now as it's not a cheap day out, but it will be an amazingly good fun day no doubt and not something we do very often!)

It's a Monday too so get the day off if you have to (like me).

Well I will be there with bells on! No idea how the car will like it but I won't know unless I go Evil or Very Mad .

Post if you are going to watch or drive. The watchers might be able to do some filming/timing too if the gear is there to do it.

The list:
1. Mitch (Driving) (1:52 Razz I have a feeling Tweety will be a bit quicker than this, remember, it's not an economy run)
2. Me (Shane) (Driving) (1:18 Rolling Eyes)
3. Phil Eacott (Driving) (MA61 Supra 1:45)
4. Justin (AE86 or R32) (Driving) (1:18 in Sprinter, 1:18 in Skyline which is 4 sale) Toyota powah!
5. Azrael (Spectating) (RA40 2:30 or TA22 1:55)
6. Phil L. (Spectator/pit crew/CCG head mechanic)
7. ToyCam (Broken car) (Sprintah! 2:30)
8. Justen (Driving) (GT4 1:13 or UZ185!! <1:11 Shocked )
11. Jane Greagg (Driving) (GT Starlet Turbo 1:30)
12. Peter Greagg (Driving) (3TGT RA40 1:30)
13. Ben Burston (Driving) (BMW318 1:35)
14. Matt (Driving) (GT4 1:16)
15. Anthony (Driving) (Gold 28 1GGTE RA28 1:20)
16. Adrian (Driving) (200SX 1:35)
17. Angela (Driving) (Skyline GTR 1:30)
18. Jack (Driving) (TA22 3SGTE 1:18)
19. Lindsay (Driving) (Mk1 Escort 1:20)
20. Rodger (Driving) (TA22 1:20)
21. Jinxinferno (Driving) (MR2 1:40)
22. Jason (Driving) (4AGZE AE86 1:20)
23. Damien (Driving) (FWD GTZ Levin 1:30)

Cheers,

Shane.

hmmmm...

hmmmmmmmmmm...........

well, well, well,

I'll be there one way or another but I don't know what car I'll actually be in. I was plannign on giving the celica its one last hoorah out at the track for its farewell, but It has suddenly developed more problems, something in either the driveshaft or hub is making it dangerous to drive, So I am gonna concentrate on getting the MR2 on the Road ASAP, if that goes to plan I may have him there for running laps, otherwise I won't be running at all Crying or Very Sad (oh why?) Have to get back to you guys when I know for certain.

Crying or Very Sad bummer Crying or Very Sad

Yep definately count Tweety and I in for a bit of fun. Considering all the requests we have had for a day like this I hope the $120 does not scare too many off!

I think Phil Eacott in his revived Supra and Justin in the Syline OR 4AGZE Sprinter????? Come on guys who want to put their wallet where there mouth is? Its just as much as a good night out on the turps....without the police!

All cars welcome to attend. experienced or newbys...like me.
Cheers
Mitch

Considering it's a day full of 20 minute sessions then $120 is great value, cheaper than doing 210km/h in a 100km/h zone and you are 99.9% less likely to smack a pedestrian into oblivion on the track than on the street!!

As a comparison, drags was $45, we raced for a total time of less than one minute (4 runs added together) that equates to $2700 dollars an hour to race Shocked

Now Wakefield is 20 minute sessions and we should get a few of them in so it looks like great value to me Very Happy

Wakefield is considered as a relatively tight track so outright power won't necessarily equate to quick times.

Just for fun lets have people guesstimate the quickest lap time they think they will do (much like how we guessed the power of our car before the dyno runs at the CCG dyno day). To give people an idea of times for street cars around Wakefield:
EVO 8 - 1:06 (with a very good driver on board)
Skyline GTR's - 1:13 - 1:16 (competent drivers)
MR2 NA - 1:18 (good driver)
VL Turbo - 1:25 (same driver can do 1:13's in a GTR)

Once people post their guesstimate I will note it beside their name. The prize for the person who can guess closest to their fastest time will win a can of coke from the Cafe (prize will be proudly donated by me Very Happy )

I will make the first guesstimate (I have never been on the track so I really have no idea) the green rolla will do a 1:18 (I hope)

Get motivated people!

Great idea Shano
Tweety has a stonking 60RWKW out of an EFI '3TG' so Im guessing around the 4h 32m 16s lap time, mean difference of 4.3s due to strong wind, upsixed big mac ill have eaten and a frustrated attitude at being the slowest on the day!
OK then as a newby ill say 1.52 minutes??????????
Cheers

Here is the fool-proof excuse to ring up with on the Monday morning for a day off work:

"I have explosive diurea" (no one will ask about this when you turn up to work on Tuesday either).

A guaranteed success.

I'll see if I can bring a video camera along to make my povvo sideline status a little more interesting.

woohoo I have found the cause of my problems in the noise, its just my steering rack has kinda failed, have the spare off the half cut and it all looks good to be replaced this week.

So I WILL be there driving the celica (I will have my vengance wakefiled Evil or Very Mad )

And with that in mind this being the 4th trip I have had to race on the track and with more powah I guess I could take the track in 1m.26sec (I may take it a little easy after what happened last time out there Embarassed ) although that may be a bit cocky, but hey I have never timed the NA so I don't really have much to compare off anyway

PL

Would love to have it done by then but you know how slow I work on Tweety! At this rate Ill find some time in late August to take Tweety off the road and hook in. Just too busy now and having way too much fun spinning the 235s in the wet just now!

I reckon if you took 3 weeks off, hit the bank for a loan and lived in the garage until 9 August you would have the little beast ready for the track day...Ha!!

OK, why is the time for my sprinter down as 1.01 and the skyline 1.23??? other way round maybe,

Sprinter needs shocks and springs badly, also some new front tyres. so if i have all that in 4weeks ill bring it other wise i'll bring the skyline(gee dam) Time for me in that car? I guess 1.18, as i've been round the track 3years ago in a VR commy wagon, all on my own( and i had my L's!!! advantage of knowing the right people) and i guessed a 2.00 and was very close,

ToyCam
There was a stock blue sprinter (oz spec) up last J racing day, he was pulling 1.30's to 1.25's.

I need somebody to have a good digi video cam, as i plan to do a little drifting. (yes in the skyline, i've been getting some pratice on closed roads)

Reason for this: this is a Toyota Forum and we all know the Sprint3r is uNb3atabl3!!! If you want praise for your Skyrine then check out www.skyrinesaustralia.com (Skyrine is the genuine Jap drifter way to say it)

Just kidding, I shall readjust your times to something more appropriate.

I hope to be bringing a camera on the day, for dorifto and race action!

Yeah, but it was probably driven by a better driver Razz

Plus my car still runs it -original- springs and shocks, and solid front disks. so we'll see how it goes...

Another option is if people who have paid to drive their car on the track are not driving (ie they are having a break or have broke their car) they are able to be a passenger in a car (only paid people can be passengers as far as I am aware).

So a steady handed passenger could do some in car filming and commentating!! That way the camer could move about and film different views, but either way would be good footage.

Well the White GT4 does consistent 1:13s on 215x17x40 Yokie 595's with approx 13psi. Now running 16.5psi but doubt it'll run as it's up for sale.

The red UZ185.....TBA i guess Smile We'll be flat out getting it sorted in time but if it makes it i'm hopeful of sub 1:11

Jane Greagg (GT Starlet Turbo) - 1:30 Lap
Peter Greagg (3TGT RA40) - 1:30 Lap
Ben Burston (BMW318) - 1.35 Lap

Ooooh a bit of variety in the CCG ranks eh!

well at this rate now I'll be flat out to get any car ready for the track day, replaced the rack in the celi and guess what no fix still sounds bad, its deffinatly in the driveline, already eliminated steering, driveshafts, hubs, wheels bearings, last thing I can think is it may be the gearbox, so I might be fucked this time. ohh well gonna concentrate on the mr2 from here Very Happy

Big J

Bad news mate. Maybe a quick stop into Bates or someone who will be able to run the car and save you all the anxst of diagnosing it yourself. You will feel a lot better once you definately find out what it is! Hopefully something cheap and easy...if there is such a thing!

I don't think its one of the tooth I thinks it may more be the viscous coupling starting to slip Sad is so I am shagged, well on the mr2 all thats left to do is were gonna pull the head off replace the gasket and do the valve stem seals, and then get my new wind screen and put it in, although 2 weeks may be pushing it.

I'm not a CCG member, but was past president and treasurer of the now defunct Canberra Celica Club...does that count?

I had the GT4 out the other day and the best I did was a 1:16 with crap tyres.

I should have finished the Group A conversion by then so hopefully I'll be there and it will be a good opportunity to check the IAT's...see whether they've changed much.

Can I be a tentative?

Hi Matt
Well I joined the CCC and shortly after that it converted to the now also defunct Toyota Club. Some time later I started our own CCG with Phil Eacott as I had met so many Celica guys cruising that were great lads. Anyway, really hope you can make to see another GT4 make an apperance. We will put you on the list (please Shane) and if you cant make it then just give us a call/post.

Phil Eacott...a name from the past. I don't think he's ever forgiven me for stuffing up his wiring in his '22 when we stuck a 4AGE in.

I'd done it before on a few cars and not had the problems that we did with him.

I'll be there if I can.

G'day Mitch,

Yep I've had the boss at home confirm my leave. I have to clear it with the other boss at work and I'm there. So yes consider it confirmed. (work is a little slow anyway, so it won't be a problem)

The celica was off the road over Christmas due to a cooked ECU. Long story but it ended up getting an engine swap because of it. You saw the car at dubbo and not much has been done since then. It made 148.7rwkW at dyno day and best of 9.21 at dubbo 1/8th mile. Not bad for a $700 engine.

I don't expect anything special on the track due to the exceptional handling it has (exceptionally bad), but it goes and stops OK so guess around 1:20 mark.

Looking forward to it,

Anthony

Yeah, when I bought the car it had a standard anti-roll bar on the front and a fairly hefty aftermarket one on the back. It was dangerous on a wet road. I am now running on just the front standard and it seems a lot better, for normal driving anyway. Evil or Very Mad

Well I have another interesting contender for the day. Adrian from my work in a hot new Nissan 200XS with a fair bit of work done to it to make its maiden voyage on the track. As a first timer he is looking at a conservative 1:35 Lap, but knowing Adrian it will get a fair hiding on the day, so who knows! Cheers. Mitch

That's great Mitch, one girl in a GTR and another in a GT Starlet, are you trying to make us guys look bad on the track Laughing

If any more females want to come they have to be driving Excels or Barinas Laughing

Just kidding, it's looking like a great turnout.

I better do some more work on the car tonight to get it ready in time!

AND we are waiting for confirmation of Phil Eacotts attendance!!

Well I think I have another young lady in Mazda SP20 but will confirm ASAP. Phil Eacott is back from sunny QLD and thanks to Phil Lawrence working for hours and hours in the freezing cold over the WE on the wiring of the Supra....it lives! Phil has the the Supra at the exhaust shop today and looking good for the 9th. Will chase him up tonight for confirmation and an ET.
Cheers
Mitch

Ok, I'm definately up for it. Are we just gonna show up on the day? Or organise something beforehand?

Lap time? Would not have a clue! Maybe 1:20

I will note you down as coming (can you make a note of this too Mitch), as all but 2 (yourself and Gold 28) on the list are coming from Canberra we will be cruising up in a group (from Canberra). We are leaving at 8am on the dot so we should arrive at Wakefield at 9ish. We could meet you NSW guys at the entry to Wakefield if you like? Or inside?

The lap time guesses are just for fun, nothing serious. Most of the people going have not been on the track (myslef included) so they are complete guesses.

Shane.

Depending on whether I can get my car sorted (come down Staurday and get a few of my Canberra buddies to help me replace my main rear main seal and sump gasket) I will be there. Car was dynoed last week. Made 297kw @ 17psi. Still more to come as well.
Anyway got my Simmons all sorted and bought some Falken race rubber today.
Put me down for a 1:59, oh, for one lap, make it a 1:18 and I'll work down from there.

Will talk to you Mitch, Justen and Phil and see how our time schedules are to see if we can get my repairs done

Talk soon.

Bro name is Lindsay.

Hey this is looking like it could be a little busy, do you know if there are many others that are turning up. 20 cars on the day would be great, plenty of track time. Much more than that could slow it down a little. I guess being an open day, we won't know until we get there. Anyhoo I'm looking forward to havin a bit O fun Very Happy <= what I will look like after a couple of laps.

hmm bummer may be sitting this event out at this rate, can't find the fault on the celica, but it has gotten bad, besides even if I did fix it I would need new front brake pads before I go out because I would chew whats left of them on the track. and I don't know if I can afford that since the 4a in the mr2 is totally rooted, needs new rings and head gasket, so shes gonna be a big rebuild, but it will be worth it, I hope Sad

Time for a GZE then! Very Happy

19 cars shouldn't be a big deal, with up to 8 on the track at once, and considering that most street cars can't handle more than 5 or so hard laps without cooking either the brakes or engine oil Smile

Hey guys I was around at Jason's place last night picking up some wheels and he came up with an awesome idea for getting some racing footage. The idea was to make a bracket for a video camera, that fits on the rear view mirror mounting holes. Any body got some time and welding practice to spare to make 'RACE CAM' a reality???

I'm with shane on this, go the GZ dude, i've been drivning mine around and there aint alot if difference in fuel consumption from the 4a-c, and i was getting 450k's from 38-42L. i think once the GZ is run in it'll be better, and u get better performance, with more room to expand into greater things (coff) turbo (coff coff). hehe.

Well the skyline runs outta rego on the 5th. can anybody give me a hand in passing it? it's all engineered, road worthy everyting,(except cat) any good places?

otherwise i'll be up in the sprinter( anybody got a stock seat to fit sprinter? need one asap!!!)
