4ac not idling so well Wed, 22 May 2002 00:09 Go to next message
I was deliverin pizza yesterday [in my 85 sprinter] when i parked the car on a highly steep uphill. When I turned the key to turn the car off, the car just did not want to turn off and made these wierd sounds. It would not stop. Until i pressed the accell abit then it turned off. [note: the car had already been turned off].

And then when i pull up to the lights etc, the car seems to idle at around .8 then bogs down to .6 then back up and down..

I have had the car serviced and tune not that long ago at all..about a week now..He tuned it alright but he said the carby needs an overhaul.

Also my fuel pump is leaking coz there's no gasket, but I have been putting oil in whenever it seems to get low. [will be fixed as i will be getting a clutch adjustment very soon].

So...Does my car all of a sudden need another tune up? Nope

Will i need a new engine..4agze? Evil or Very Mad

Hey Lil_Mic,

My spark plugs are due to be replaced so I decided to put a 4AGE instead Smile But your's sounds much more serious, so I believe a 4AGZE is the only remedy Up To Something

But seriously if the carby needs an overhaul then no amount of "tuning" will fix it.

Yeh, it had been tuned, and idling nicely around 800 and if i had kept it idling for over a minute at them damn long traffic lights it stalls.

But now it just keeps bogging up and down..I'm at school now and it happened driving here Nope

it was like .6k to 1

I thought it wouldn't be too bad, but it feels like it's gonna stall and shakes a bit which is the annoying part..

Hopefully the mechanic has time for me on friday

o okaiz..

It actually was fine coming back from school..maybe a tad more shakey..

But i'll take my chance as i'm trying not to do anything else to the car until i get a new engine..

But if it keeps happening, I guess i'll get it reconditioned/overhauled...

Thankz guys Heart Wink
