hi all,
what is the ruling for fitting apillar gauge pods street use?
I am thinking of doing a custom trim on the apillar so the pods blend in with the upholstery..
not sure if the rule is different in each state; i am in nsw.
thanks

I beleive as long as they are behind your steering wheel they aren't classed as a vision obstruction
I had a mate that got booked for having gauges on his A-Pillar because they were in front of his steering wheel
Hope this helps!

I can't quite remember the wording - I'll look it up later. But you have to have any after market gauges etc below the dash line. That is, below where your dash board\crash pad meets the wind screen!
A lot of people get done for this when they put in a 'monster tacho'.

I seemed to think that to be legal it had to be below your dashline.

Well I know that the s15 silvia aust spec they had to take out the a-pillar boost gauge because it didn't meet an ADR. But I'm not sure because of which ADR.

when i got done for my wheels the cop looked at my A pillar mounted guage and said..." your lucky its below the dash line and behind the steering wheel"...
i told the guy at the blue slip station when i was getting the rim defect cleared and he said that is rubbish...
he then went on to say that under certain rules cops can defect you for whatever they want so long as whatever it is, is not standard....he then said that basically because you usually get a fine with a defect notice its just another form of revenue raising...
which i totally agree with...
