Help! What wiring can i keep or discard? PICS included!

Im in the process of going to start wiring up my ma61.
Ive pulled out the old 5m computer and its loom already. I still have the loom here at my house just in case though.
All the wiring that goes through the body and around the drivers side - like the AFM plug, Alternator plug etc are all still there at the moment.
Basically the only wiring removed was the computer stuff.
Now, i have to change my dash cluster over to a SA63 celica one. I also have the loom out of the sa63.
What am i best to do? Pull the whole lot of ma61 wiring out and replace with SA63, or bridge the two into each other?
What Should i begin pulling out and wiring up?? The tacho adapter is being used for the 8-4 signal for the analogue sa63
dash.
Heres pics of the two dashes rears:

Theres a big assed plug on the electric one that i have no idea what it does, the other plugs look very similar/ the same!
Heres the things i will only need when the v8 goes in:
ALternator plug, to show how many volts its charging at. Although, the Falcon Bosch (same as camry) Alternators only have a plug and the battery terminal on there. IS the plug able to be used on a volt gauge such as the sa63 has? My falcon never used to have a volts gauge thats all
Temperature sender..im using a toyota unit, same as ma61/ sa63 use. Single 6.3mm spade bit connector.
Oil pressure to speco electric gauge
Oil temperature to speco electric gauge
Thanks guys, any help is greatly appreciated.

Blake,
don't worry about any special wiring for the voltmeter in the SA63 cluster. If it is anything like the MA61 analogue cluster, ign + gnd are always connected to it anyway and that is what the voltmeter reads.
Although I'm no expert, I've heard that analogue->digital IC swaps in MA61s are messy as toyota used a completely different set of plugs/sockets on the back of the IC.
Still, a bit of time spent studying the circuits on the back of the two ICs will tell you how to graft SA63 plugs onto the MA61 wiring.
To minimise the number of problems you have to solve simultaneously I'd be tacking it by either:
a) leaving in the digi dash & getting the v8 running. Then do the IC swap; or
b) reconnct the old computer/harness so it runs the 5M. Do the IC swap and once you are happy the 5M is running ok, then drop in the v8.
Either way I don't think replacing the MA61 chassis wiring with SA63 chassis wiring is a good idea (think of all the auto aircon crap).
Regards
Peter

Hey where are you getting the tacho adapter that goes 8 - 4? I needed something like this a while ago but in the end had to pull the dash and get it recalibrated. Wasn't too successful though; still doesn't read quite right now.

I helped Witzl do a dash cluster swap in his Corolla last weekend; it was time-consuming but not hard to do. In his case the dash clusters had the same plugs but the pin-outs were different, so we sat down and traced the circuits on the back of the dash clusters, wrote down which pin did what, and swapped the pins on the loom plugs as needed.
If your SA63 dash cluster uses the same plugs (ie the same shape) as the MA61 cluster you'll be able to do the same thing. If not, the process will be much the same but it will involve cutting and soldering wires instead of swapping pins.

next question... WHY???
MA61 digi dash is HORN. It would be EASIER to use the MA61 dash on the valley of poo motor than the SA63.
There are thread adaptors for all the electronic oil press and oil temp guages you have - just need to visit a good fittings shop like Pirtek etc. THey will even hav a nice T-piece to put both the oil temp and oil press senders in the one oil outlet.
IF the MA61 uses an electronic speedo - this makes life VERY easy. YOu can buy screw on adaptors that give 4 pulses per revolution using your stock speedo drive, and then you buy a Jaycar kit (when it comes out in september) to "adjust" the pulsing.

The ma61 electronic dash has an inability to accept the modified signal from the tachometer im told by grant at sixworks. And that the sa63 dash is easier as it is analogue. It also has a volts gauge, which is what i was looking for.
82mk2 - mate the 5me was gone 19 months ago!

If you want an analog dash then make one from scratch, that'd be cooler. For all the hassle the SA63 dash isn't cool enough

you deffinetly need to cut your ma61 plugs off and use the sa63 ones. I checked the plugs this morning and some are the same plug but the wires are different. If u do decide to cut them can i grab the big one off you as i cant find one in a wrecker. I also have the spare sa63 dash here when your ready.
