Just curious what hours a week you do at work.
ATM i'm in the 70-80 bracket but it goes up or down depending on wether the other drivers are working or not.

I'm in a pretty much 2 drafty office with several multi storey buildings having just started or are about to start. Need to keep on top of the faxes and RFI's = long evenings preparing for the next day.

Typically varies quite a bit, but usually lands in around the 60 hours.
Paid well, and paid overtime as an Engineer in the Auto industry.
Mortgages do suck, but at least spending some of it on cars is rewarding

Hmmm. i only work about 41 or so hours a week. But if you add on travelling time i leave home at about 7.45 and get back at the earliest about 6.45. So that is a minimum of 55 hours a week. But I only work for about 42. Sucks. Dont know how you guys who work 70+ can handle it.

I don't have to travell to get to work.I walk out the front door and get in ther car and presto i'm at work.Drive around all day and get paid for it Only down side is i have to put up with the general public, old poeple and drunks
12+ hours a day 6 days a week soon adds up but thats what i have to do at the moment to pay the bills.

40 h most likely .... i start tomorrow.
the long hour jobs are in construction.
working 12h a day , 6 days per week for 5-7 months straight,
plus travel time to the worksite ...
pay is good to excellent.... 60k + a year is easy.
but it destroys ev EVERYTHING else... so i didn't stay at it.
but , looks like i may have the good job now. right on .
high tech metal fabrication...likely nice equipment at my work

40-50 unless there is a need (project delivery or something) which case it can ramp up to 80+ but then i get time in lieu or overtime (my choice).
Pay is outstanding...
As an employer - if you work people much harder than 40-50 on a regular basis, you end up getting less out of them than if you make them take a break and come back refreshed... morale suggests that a well paid employee will do as much in 40-50 hours as a low paid employee will do in 80.

i can maybe beat that
not the weekend past, but the one before
went out friday night, no big deal
went out saturday night, got home at 6am, up at 10 am, at work by 12:30(had to drive about 100km's to get to work that day :/)
finished at 6:30 that night, up at 4 the next morning to get to work by 5:30
finished 7:30 that night
On average, during the cooler months, i work about 42 hours a week(this will increase as the weather warms up and we get more breakdown calls), get paid for 38 get 2 hours a week RDO acrual and i usually spend half an hour at the end of each day doing paperwork for the days work. Most days i dont take either of my entitled smoko's and rarely get a full lunch break(lunch is usually me eating in the ute on the way to a job...or if i crack the shits and get too hungry to keep working ) But thats mostly my choice...alot of the time i tend to slow down if i have too long a break, or that its not really convenient to take a break halfway through something. I like to keep busy, makes the day go faster.
Travel time is usually 45-60 minutes each way and i average 600km's a week in my own vehicle...sucks on a shitty 5m-e and bugger all pay, not including other driving i do during the day in one of the tradesmens vehicles...which isnt usually that much)
Pay...well its pretty bad, but most first year apprentices get paid shit, perhaps it will go up a bit when i finally go dual trade apprentice...perhaps not

my guess is that he means taxi driver.
personally i'm doing about 40 per week at the moment, just finished my uni degree so i'm doing extra hours at my shitkicker job. i'm considering dropping back tho cos the pay doesn't justify the effort.
as with most people, if the pay DID justify the effort, i'd do 60 per week.

Hi,
Used to work in IT, but we got outsourced by a bunch of cocks and they didn't like me, so they retrenched me. I was pretty pissed for an hour or two, until I did the maths on the payout - which closed my mortgage off totally and with some left over.
So, I do 0 hours work now, but at least 2 or three a day looking for a new job. I need the money to do some work on the car, work on the house, work on the landscaping.. big screen TV.. new computer.. new war game stuff... crikey, the list goes on...
The wife still works, so I'm trying to get her to get a better job so she can keep affording me

Working in IT has its ups and downs.
I've spent entire months sitting around twiddling my thumbs (and posting on the forums), but I've also had some crazy times.
Worst I've done is a 120h week. That's including a 26h Sunday.
Most of the time it's around the 40-50 mark I'd say.

Hi,
What this poll should ask is "How many hours a week do you actually do work?"
Being unemployed I can sit on the net all day, but some of you guys are chatting and posting while you should be working. Tsk Tsk Tsk.
So, I can see responses like... "I am employed and paid for 50 hrs a week, but I do 20 'cos the rest of the time I'm on the net and looking/posting/checking out Toyotas!"
