Emissions Control System, 13T Fri, 09 July 2004 15:36 Go to next message
I've decided to keep the 13T-U in my car simply for sakes of convenience; The exhaust's been repaired. No added pressure, whatsoever, but I'm having a lot of trouble -- the car's irritable when it first starts, sounding like it's steam powered. I can't hook up one of the vacuum hoses or it simply ceases to run. When it warms up the engine is far too rough --

Please, if anyone has any knowledge of these bloody emissions control systems I'd really appreciate your help, I really do need to get this thing running smoothly if I have any hope of passing roadworthy. If it dies as soon as the vacuum hose is hooked to the air cleaner, I can't imagine they'd be too eager to give it a roadworthy slip.

in all honesty , the 13T is a pain in the butt. if the internals are good, try and get a standard 3T head/carb/manifold, as they don't have all the emmission control nonsense that always causes greif.

Internals are fine.

Solved ... a little of the problem. Not enough really. So I think I'll give my friendly local Toyota wrecker a yell...

Thanks for the advice, was just trying to save a little time, and a little grief -- new to working on things that parts are interchangeable for. ;D

Cheers anyway!
