i have done a conversion from auto to manual and cannot recall any issues with the tailshaft or diff what so ever!!!
the only thing you need to do is cut a section out for the gear stick, but thats quite obvious when you put the manual in. basically you have to cut bout 2" down
as for a 2ltr T series WTF!!!!!!!!!!! you sure your not talking bout 18R motor

Nah i know my motors and i just checked the specs and the closest is a 4T which is a twin cam turbo 2L but this engine he had must be definitely a 2T (i haven't checked the inscription on motor) but he reckons he has the receipt from when it was imported. Dodgey import i reckon!

2T - 1.6
3T - 1.8
2TG - 1.6 Twin Cam
beyond that i dont know, there are other versions of 2T and 3T but they are all still 1.6 and 1.8 respectively

http://www.tte.de/ta64.html
which state that only 200 4t-gte were produced to enter Group B in 1982.
If this is true I'm guess your friend has one very rare enigne

If it looks like a 2T and he thinks it's 2L, pick one of the following:
- Rebuilt to 89x78 bore/stroke with 4mm overbore, cuatom pistons and 3T crankshaft (~1940CC), OR
- He's talking shit

Ive got a 5speed celica box and measure it with my auto box and for some reason they are the same size. I thought everyone was saying that it wasn't possible. Remember i have a 5/1974 Celica. Or could it mean that i have a W5x gearbox?

Good luck... they only made a couple of hundred from memory, and none of them were sold to the general public (race use only).
