MX83 transmission question.

My auto is doing strange things... I have searched the site and google about kickdown cables and whatnot but need to know more.
Basically the problems are this. The transmission seems to shift when it should under moderate to low throttle application. The 1st problem is that it gives a jolt when shifting from 1st to second. More of a jolt if I accelerate a little quicker.
The second, more worrying problem is that when I hammer it or accelerate hard, the transmission will allow the engine to bounce off the rev limiter before it changes gear. It will stay up at redline bouncing for about 2-3sec. Not good.
I have been told to look at the kickdown cable. Are these likely results of a poorly adjusted cable? What else could it be?
Final question. What box would I have in this car and is it a ECT?

Transmission got serviced 800km before the problems starting. The engine go reco'd then and the problems have been infuriating me ever since then. Could a loose plug be the culprit?
Fluid level is spot on and the fluid is clean and new.

A340e gearbox has at least three connectors (and possibly four if there's two speed sensors) - plus it's own loom and that loom is tightly enmeshed with the factory engine ECU.
the 1G-GTE+A340e setup has 8 wires going from the engine ECU to the gearbox ECU or gearbox related things (o/d switch, gear indicator switch, etc)
the US ma61 (5mge i think?) has 5 lines between the ecu's then another 15 going to/from the gearbox ECU to elsewhere (inc gearbox).
your's will be similarly complex.
... go back over your wiring - is likely that re-installation was not 100% - it's the gearbox ECU doing a fair amount of the gear shifting, not just the kickdown cable.

The reason I was wondering if a missing connection or plug could be the problem was because it still changes gears. It just doesn't change nicely or before the rev limiter. I would have thought that it would really f*ck things if it had a missing wire(s) not just do what I have described.
