Just was thinking, how the new Corolla engine (forget which it is - but this 1.8 is noted to have 100KW and 171Nm) compares to the reputable 4age 100KW, be interesting to see dyno and torque curve or each matched up.

That's the 1ZZ-FE, but screw that, look at the 2ZZ-GE - it kills both of them. I want to try and get a look at one sometime soon, see how hard it's be to make RWD...

Seems Toyota is moving all to chain drive which is a good thing I think. One less problem to worry about.
Here's the tech doc for the 1ZZFE (similar to the 2ZZGE that is above)

They moved to chain drive because the US has some requirements about longevity of engines and components before major things have to be replaced. A timing belt just struggles to meet the new time lengths.

the new corollas are good my mums got one and of course i took it for a thrash.
but its rev limmitor is was to low like as soon as you hit 6500rpm BANG!!! it stops the party.
good power but and the gearing is real good for a shopping trolley.
and it chops falcadores and most other new 4cyl like protege and the new pulsars.
handlings to sloppy for my likeing so im gonna throw on a set of lowered springs when i take the car in for service.
hopefully she wont notice hehehe.
