basically, should they have a gasket between the manifold and turbo and turbo to dumps.
whether it SHOULD be just goo , or a multi layer metal gasket and maybe some additional goo

Metal gaskets on mine when I pulled the turbos off about a month ago. Definitely factory items, as the turbos had never been removed.

should chris go back and make them put new one in that they should have put in there in the first place, or at least re-used his, cause from what i am aware, turbo gaskets are re-usable.
the company shouldnt really be making dumps if they dont even realise they need gaskets

I wouldn't call it a company!
Ok, I want some gaskets. I have been told about the kits that you can make them yourself. Could I use one of these or should I get some from Toyota?
thanks

Haha Chris always thinks the worst has happened to his engine, as we've said it's probably just leaking exhaust gas!!

If it helps,
I make my manifold to turbo - turbo to dump pipe gaskets out of copper. I just buy a small sheet of 1.?mm thick copper sheet and cut the gasket out of that, it works a treat and has never leaked. They can be used twice on my car before they become to thin and need replacing. I have made an initial template from cardboard that I keep in a safe place and use it whenever I need to make a new gasket.
The only reason I was forced to go down this route was because no one where I live could supply me with the turbo to dump pipe gasket and I needed it quickly.
Shane.

I hoped it was something simple but just haven't found anything yet? Will be testing for exhaust leaks tonight.
ke382tg: thanks for that, sounds pretty easy to do.
so you are not sure exactly what thickness copper to get?
anyone else know?

Something like 1.6mm would be fine. But what happened to the factory gaskets? I reused mine when i made my dumps.
Perhaps you can buy a sheet of that silver perforated looking exhaust gasket material from an exhaust shop?

probably the same thing that happened to my stock Y - pipe
not returned? or in the gasket case, refitted.
I will not be going to this mechanic again.
I will give the exhaust shop a call now.
thanks

Yep it was 1.6mm copper (I knew it was 1.6mm or 1.8mm but couldn't remember).
But I see the exhaust place told you this too so it's all sorted then.
