Hey guys just wondering what sorta stuff can you play with on thes engines, i had a 4ac before this one, can you play with the timing or is that controlled by the ecu? what sort of advance should i run 10deg? more? i only put BP ultimate 98RON petty into it, and castrol magnatec oil. Im guessing all of the a/f mixtures are set by the ecu, so not much play there, if i take it to a mechanic to tune it is there anything he can do to make sure its running at 100% any tests? prolly should get a compression check? whats the right compression for these engines in psi? Its only been in my car about 3 days now before that it was sitting on my garage floor for almost 12 months, it goes well but i wanna make sure its running its best
Thanks guys

the timing is not controled by the ECU u can change it to possibly perform better in different scenario's..i think 1 term used its top dead centre..once driving it is a tad quicker..but will idle like shit etc..i am not 100% but i know there is something along these lines..good luck

WRONG.
the ECU controlls ignition in a certain manner of speaking YES, but you control it's reference point.
The ECU controls ignition advance my increasing or reducing the amount of DELAY from a certain reference point the dizzy is set to when the ECU is in diagnosis mode. To do this i recommend you read the 4A-GE engine manual in the "Tech Docs" section here on Toymods. Its real easy to do!

ahh injectors are brand spankin new reconditioned ones ($40a pop) screw $200ea new from toyota. the originals were stuffed, went to have them cleaned and they said 3 of them didnt even flow and the forth ones spray pattern was all shagged.
am i right that more base advance like higher than 10 will cause pinging? is this because it runs lean? and if its lower ie 10-8 it will chew more petty and run richer?
Hmm so its just like doing the timing on a 4ac? loosen that bolt on the dizzy and turn till the timing lines up? But i have to short the diagnostic terminals? i'll have a look at the 4age book hehe prolly answer most of my questions
Thanks again
