Pretty sure it's a 3.98 as per most Soarer Diff's... I'll drag it out this weekend for you and knock the backing plate off to take a pic for you...

I managed to kill the planetaries in it...

Blake - you'll find that the Soarer ratios aren't the same as the traditional G series ones.

Ben - hope the Soarer/Bimmer are treating you well Smile Can you measure the depth of the clutch fan for me? Just sit it on the circular mounting bit, and measure from the ground up to the highest point.

E-mail me lmdwyer@turbosupras.com

Cheers mate

Leigh

I'll have a measure for you tomorrow night also mate Smile It doesn't seem to fit in the 15mm clearance to my Alloy radiator Razz

Seems everyone wants these... they are all fitted to the engine. painted Lobelia Purple... Buy the whole engine and change them over, and still have a spare engine after it Smile

I wasn't keen to seperate... but make a me an offer I can't refuse Smile Bare in mine that without plastics and cam covers the 1JZ won't be worth much to me... No-one wants an engine minus these...

what parts of the head do you have? I still don't know exactly what is wrong with mine but when I find out I may be needing some replacement parts.

Brookfield...

I've got a complete sexy looking engine there mate... Could be a bit flexible on price depending on what you need Smile Might be the smarter fix, if there is something wrong with your head... I think Head gaskets are a $100's each!!!

I'm pretty sure it's a 3.98 ratio... seemed to not quiet make 4 turns on the nose for a turn of the output.. and I know that TT soares have 3.98 ratio...

Do you have 2 engines?

1. Complete engine... minus, starter, A/c, Alt, Fan(can include), with new timing belt, almost new waterpump, polished cam covers, c/w Inlet manifold, throttle body, injectors stub, fuel rail, Idle air, painted coil cover and front covers, suit single turbo, mid mount sump... $750 ONO...

and 2. Bare engine, sold for parts, cams removed, no cam covers, water pump, covers etc c/w head, etc Mid mount sump(soarer).. $400 ONO

So what is the story? Did you blow the second one with the scored bore and the first one runs fine? or what? how many k's on the first one? was this your old single turbo engine?

Also, it is possible to swap my front sump onto your mid sump? would the sensors be the same considering mine is from a jzx90 chaser and yours is soarer?

Re: 1JZ Engine + Parts Fri, 16 July 2004 02:49 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Chris... 3 engines in various states...

1: complete engine ready to roll, minus starter etc etc...
2: block, crank, rods, scored bore.. I melted number 6 piston...
3: engine, block, sump, crank rods, head etc.. still bolted together, but sold for parts as I don't know it's origin.

First(1) engine that is complete, I'm unsure of KLMs, but was bought from an importers and was the cleanest 1jz I've seen. Compression tested fine, and is ready to roll...

Front sump goes straight on... no sensors to speak of mate mounted on the sump bar your oil level sensor. I'm pretty certain that the CAS mounts on the front of the engine not the sump and that it's all interchangeable.

I was going to bolt my front sump onto this engine, but decided to go the 2JZGTE route Smile hence the sale, otherwise this engine would be in my car now Smile

I was actually talking about the sensors on the top of the engine. My wiring should hook up to the sensors on that engine right?

stupid question: what does CAS stand for? Smile

I am getting quite interested Smile

Re: 1JZ Engine + Parts Fri, 16 July 2004 03:40 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Yeah mate all your plugs will go straight on Smile

I found when removing my engine, it was easier to remove the inlet manifold from the head leaving the wiring loom still feeding through it all etc, just leave it in the bay wire attached, then lift the old one out and drop the new engine in retaining your inlet manifold and loom...

The loom is a bit of a pain to try and remove from the inlet manifold whilst it's still on the engine. I did it the hard way first, then decided to do it the easy way second Smile

Another thing you can do is just pull the whole loom back through the firewall and lift it out still attached to the engine Smile On second thoughts I'd suggest this. Then it's just a matter of transferring it all over on the ground and dropping the new one back in Smile

CAS - Crank Angle sensor little plug on a bracket down near the alternator Smile

Norbie's Aristo was a front sump, but apparently that's the only model of Aristo (I think was jzs141 or jzs147? just guessing) that had a front one.

LOL that signature's already long gone, but it was a bit of a joke - 15.something at 145mph... ie. mph to run a 9 with Smile

I had a signature once saying I had a Daewoo Lanos with a turbo'd hemi that ran 11.2@190mph or something ghey and the number of PM's I got telling me how tough it must have been was incredible Very Happy
