i wana convert my ke55 to manual. i already know its better off to use either a ta22 crossmember or a ke20 one so ive got that side sorted, ive also read that the existing tailshaft wont fit, would it just be easier to use a tailshaft out of a manual one? are the diff's the same? would i need to get a k50 to 4k bell housing or can i use the existing one off the auto box? also i know i have to get a clutch clutch cable pedal box and also change the brake padel to a manaul styled one

get a KE30/55 pedal box
not sure on the tailshafts,, as the autos used were mainly aussie slushboxes, not jap...
diffs may not be the same... is yours Jap or Borg? (front loader or rear plate?)
K50 does not have a bellhousing that is detachable.
you need, pedal box, clutch cable, drill hole in firewall and maybe weld a tube there for the adjustor, flexplate from manual, flywheel from manual, spigot bearing for said flywheel, clutch kit, ummmm..
i have a manual KE30 that i'm wrecking in the near future, if you are in sydaney, maybe we can work something out....
find out what dif you have, and if you have two sets of holes in your chassis rails for crossmember..

er, wtf?
you don't need to change any crossmember. ke30/55 manual pedalbox will bolt in. you change the whole gearbox as the manuals don't have a separate bellhousing. you will need the tailshaft from a ke30/55 with the same type of diff as yours (borgwarner with bolts on the back, jap with no bolts). there will already be a hole in the firewall, but no horn to hold the adjuster, we usually just get the adjusting rubber and turn it round the other way, if you're really classy you can stick a washer on it too. clutch adjustment instructions in my faq

You really just need to visit someone like me, or oldcorollas, that's got far too much of this junk in the backyard, and will let you wreck out an old car for next to nothing, so you can see both how it all goes together, and get the bits. Either that, or buy a $50 corolla with amanual box in it
