2ZZGE in ae86? (etc) Tue, 13 July 2004 12:24 Go to next message
Just curious again, kinda continuing from previous thread comparing 1ZZ-FE and 4age.

How does the 2ZZGE measure up against a 3sge (non BEAMS) u think?
Anyone used forced induction on current compression (how much pressure) or lowered it and used forced indutcion?

What variants and what cars had the 2ZZGE? Just the 7th gen Celica and Sportivo?

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas about putting one into a ae86?

The old Sportivo Corolla had a turbo 7A-FE.
The current Sportivo Corolla has a 2ZZ-GE.

Yes it was available turbo on the previous model.. but as with previous half-hearted dabbles from other manufacturers, the performance to price ratio was abysmal. For the same price as a WRX or 200SX you could have an equally overweighted, underpowered, understeering and hard to insure Corolla.

Greeeeat... and they wondered why they struggled to sell the limited run (something like 400 cars I think?).

Have seen a 3SGE in a sprinter... seems a good way to give yourself a headache and a car with debatable weight balance. Stick with the 4AGE, and turbo a 4AGZE if you're not happy with the power.

2zz quite expensive to buy & very complex to wire. was never available in rwd for fititng ot a car like a sprinter will require some rather custom mounts - let alone a custom bellhousing. not a cheap conversion.3sge will be far cheaper in comparison.

2zzge is a fantastic platform, but the downfalls are that its to expensive, not as much development compared to other high rev, high compression engines, 1.8l compared to 2l and those damn VTECS!!!!!!!!!!!

but if i could get one i would!!!

also i have neva seen one for sale.
