Cold Air Induction options Wed, 14 July 2004 02:31 Go to next message
I thought I would float some ideas and see what sinks or is shot down in flames Very Happy

Ok I wish to set up CAI on my KE25, engine bay space is not too bad up front so I have a bit of room to play with.

I am currently running a unifilter pod and have done for a long time, it is currently positioned in the front right corner of the engine bay.

Option 1 is to construct a shroud around the pod filter and duct air from outside the engine bay into the enclosed area. The only problem with this option is that it may not look all that neat (depending on what it's made from, quality of workmanship etc) and looks like it will take up a significant amount of room. But if setup up well should serve its purpose and may look ok.

Option 2 would be to find an airbox that has a 3inch hose fitting and is of a decent flow quality so as not to add a restriction to the car then just run a section of ducting from the airbox to outside the engine bay. So what airboxes could potentially serve this purpose? (Supra? Skyline? etc etc)

I am open to ideas or would be keen to hear what other people have done.

I know the CAI will make a significant difference to inlet temps over the current setup as I have positioned the filter outside the car (in place of a headlight for certain events) and have noticed lower inlet temp measurments.

Thanks.

That's the sort of ideas I am looking for. I was looking to something similar, devilrollas one looks like aluminium? That would be my first choice, sheetmetal would be my next (painted of course).
