Hi guys & gals.
I have wee problem
But Im wanting some info from you aussies please
Say if you loose your ownership papers for your car & need a new copy. Can you get a new copy from somewhere, the postshop? AA or other?
As im a kiwi, i know nothing how the aussie legal/vehicle systems works.
Ive imported a car from aussie, & I desperately need new ownership papers for customs as they have been misplaced by someone.
I have a mate in perth at the mo, he can go get the new papers for me, but he is a kiwi also & also doesnt know how the aussie system works.
So any info please help!!!

Hmmm..... By ownership papers, I am assuming you mean Registration papers? Or are there other papers regarding importation etc that have vehicle ownership details.

um, well thats the thing, i guess in aussie they would be called registration papers, if they have all the details of the owner etc etc & any history of the vehicle??
In NZ its all different, your car has its Warrant of Fitness, then its Registration, & ownership papers are all serperate, the new owner gets those sent in the mail when the car is sold & ownership transfered.
Thats why im asking you guys for info, its all different in oz......

the rego papers would have to be sent to the person who is listed as the registered owner, most likely the person you bought it off unless you put it in your own name before sending it over

Trust me, they are a major pain in the arse to get if you aren't on the registration as the owner due to our privacy laws. I'd be contacting the who you bought it from and getting them to get a copy for you.
