- WINDSHEILDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! (not enough exclamation marks in the world for this) - down the bottome, mainly on the corners though
- passenger side, front (where the guard meets door down bottom (cause thats where the water runs to when it rains, when water goes in where windscreen washers are it runs to passenger side)
- boot (everywhere, if boot seal stuffed theres your answer)
- side railing, fuck forgot proper name for it (both sides, basically bottom side of car, very prone to rust HARD)
- passenger guard (passenger side front part)
- around the rear wheels (as being a rear wheel drive, mud gets stuck there unnoticed and after time.......)
- when you take out the whole interior where ever you can see metal and there is no tar to cover it (being the floor always water prone)
thats bout what i can remember... hope that helps BUT you know whats better than what i said????
SANDBLASTING its the perfect way

if you read this before looking at the car then jere is a little trick that hardly anyone knows...
if you have a nice sized magnet (nothing huge), then while looking at the car run it over the car, use your hand to prevent it from hitting the actual car (you dont wnt to damage it)
what you are looking for is bog and rust!!! how can you tell?
- while you are running the magnet over the car you will notice that the magnet will want to stick to the car HARD and that means no bog or rust.
- if the power of the magnets attractio to the car decreases then there is either bog or rust DEFINATELY
if your thinking how will i know/how can i really tell... BELIEVE ME WHEN YOUR DOING IT YOU WILL NOTICE WHAT IM TALKING BOUT
i do this on all the cars i buy, the current TA22 i got has 5 bog spots (both side behind door badges, rear bottom passenger guard, behind door on seal panel, behind passenger rear wheel), other bad spots on the car are windsheilds (front and rear) and boot... but thats where the daily driver will come into play towards the end

ahhh yes the old magnet trick hehe
i found a common spot to be underneath the crapet in the front footwells, there is a circle section there that doesn't appear to be well protected from the elements (except by carpet obviously)
and the rear hatch
hope this helps....and is in time =P

When doing the magnet trick, use one of those pissweak little fridge magnets (you know the thin bendy ones) as it will only stick if it is very close to metal. A more powerful magnet will stick even if there is a fair layer of bog over the metal.

Yeah, the best place to look is in the body...
Make sure you give it a good once over, and then look at it again. Even come back the next day after the excitement wears off (don't get too anxious about buying a car) and look again.
The smaller the magnet the better...those small fridge magnets don't stick to metal very well, there's no chance they'll be sticking to bog!

i would agree with you guys to an extent! the extent is this, those magnets barely stick onto fridges with 1-2layers of paint so how would it be when there is etch primer, primer, colour and clear (and im talking from factory. but like my car where iv put 2layers etch, 3layers primer, 5layers colour and 3layers clear... you recon the magnet will stick anywhere? what if the car has been painted on top of old paint (colour change)
thats why i said to use a good magnet and be sure not the scratch the car

Yes it will stick through the paint; I'm not just making this up, I've actually used this trick many times before when looking at second-hand cars!

You used to be able to buy a magnet in a plastic tube over here in NZ just for this purpose. The closer it pulled the magnet to the body the less bog in it, and the plastic protected the paintwork.
Then some bright bastard invented Newtech which is like bog with metal filings in it, not sure if you guys get that in Aussie or not. Magic stuff for hiding rust
