TA22 engine swap Tue, 10 September 2002 14:21 Go to next message
Hey all,

I am thinking about finally getting around to fixing up my old TA22 Celica. It needs a new engine so I thought I would go with some kind of fuel injected engine. What are my options? Obviously it needs to be injected but I also want a NON turbo engine. Also what would I be looking at in price and availability as I want to make sure I have an engine that has a readily available parts supply. I'm in Melbourne by the way. Any and all help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve.

2tgeu!

its the easiest fuel injected swap possible

Just bolt it up to your GB and existing engine mounts - then wire in the ECU

Agreed, this is by far this easiest option. For a bit more poke you can source a 3T-C bottom end and bolt the 2T-G head onto it. Add a nice exhaust and aftermarket management and you'll have quite a good package.

It varies a lot, but probably between $500-1000.

a better option (in my opinion) could be a 4AGE. these engines are available for almost the same cost, and although the conversion is slightly more difficult, the benefits are good for this conversion. it is by no means a difficult conversion, specially if you can source a complete AE86 engine from a sprinter. in the tech Articles, i prepared an article relating to this exact conversion "4AGE into TA22". if you consider this an option, let me know, as being in melbourne i can be of help to you if you so wish!!!!
