TA22 control arm question

On the inner end of the TA22 control arm there is a rubber bush with a metal tube going through the center, when this rubber wears out can it be replaced? Or do you toss the control arm and get another?
Thanks

The control arm inner bush can be replaced; Mackay Consolidated Industries produce polyeurethane replacements (I think marketed as 'Suretrak' brand?). Noltek probably do a similar part.
If your other bushes are worn or you'd like to upgrade, ask about Markay part number 'KIT57', a complete polyeurethane rebushing kit for trailing arms, control arms, radius bushes and panhard rod.
Thanks for listening.

Thanks for that.
The only reason I asked is because I tried removing the bush and the steel tube but it didn't look like budging
Also one of my control arms is a little worn where the sway bar is attached. Is it possible to buy new replacements?
And where abouts is Mackay Consolidated Industries located?
Thanks

those control arms are cunts to remove, they require pressure to remove and no way you can do it any other way... thats why i got pedders to do all the bushes for me... im in SYD and they charged me $300 to change them all (front and back including compelte steering

Yes, it's a pain in the ass job to remove the bush. Installing the new bush can be even harder. Practically an impossible job without a hydraulic press. Buy the parts and take them to a workshop for fitting (Midas, Pedders etc.) My local Pedders do bush and ball joint remove and refit for $5ea.
New replacements for control arm would be stocked by Toyota some time ago but NLA now. Try second hand. If you find an arm with good bush and ball joints too you can kill two birds with one stone.
Mackay is based in Moorabbin, VIC. See http://www.mackayrubber.com.au/ or call 03 9555 6500. Parts are available through Bursons. Take a part number for less fucking around at the counter.

fade-e, if you don't mind, could you say exactly what parts you changed and how much these parts each cost?
Thanks, I'm interested having just finished a similar task myself.

man i couldnt say cost of each part cause firstly i got them at trade prices and secondly this was 12monthas ago and i donty have reciepts to look at.
i do remember that the tie rods were roughly $15each x4, idler arm was like $30. as for bushes well prices i cannot give at all i really cant remember SORRY guys, but what i replaced is suspension wise is this:-
- upanhard rod bushes (chassis and diff)
- lower diff rods (both of them, chassis and diff)
- upper diff rods (both of them, chassis and diff)
- rear shocks (monroe gas)
done to both sides of front
- lower control arm bush (the one we are talking bout now)
- ball joint
- front shock (monroe gas)
- sway bar bush (control arm ones and chassis/engine bay ones)
- also i have added another stabiliser to the sway bar and changed those bushes too (this stabiliser is not stock or aftermarket but something i thought up and put on. IT REALLY HELPS TO KEEP CAR ON GROUND BELIEVE ME, goes to show my rally driving love , man i LOVE the TAs HAAAAAAAAAAAARD)
DIDNT DO SPRINGS AT ALL, neither fron or back BUT i wish i did cause i have a hard ride now but better than before when i had a boat ride
now the $300 odd dollars is just for bushes... all up to do all suspension complete (except springs) and complete steering (except for reco of steering box) cost me bout $1100... this is heaps cheap i recon cause i got a quote for over $2000 but like i said i got all the parts at trade prices if not cheaper... hell one place quoted me $2700 to do it all

IDB in Melbourne do a camber-adjustable lower control arm mod for about $100 a side.
K-Mac and Noltek do adjustable strut tops.
Perhaps an engineering shop could thread down your radius rods some more?

SeptemberSquallIndustries: have you done the adjustable control arm? is it any good? safe? etc etc? does anyone know?
toolman: if your a toymods mem than you can get it straight from nolathane at a discount. as for me getting them i would honestly love to help but mate im so busy i really cant right now SORRY ATM i get my bro to get things for me that i need but when it comes to the bushes the person i got them off will only deal with me cause im not a tradesman but i know the guy well and i cant make it out to him anytime soon. im looking at the above link and they have everything. i guess you just gotta get prices though
