Radiator problem on st162, found temp solution!!! Sun, 18 July 2004 07:26 Go to next message
Hey,
My radiator has this wierd arse problem, apart from the fact that its leaking somewhere else, the main problem was the top tank on my car. Why did they have to make one of the hottest components out of hardened plastic... Sad Sad

This happens!!!!

It has a crack in it, when the car gets hot it will slowly drip out. The thermo fans come on quite a bit, even when the car isn't given a bit more of a brisk drive!!!

I got through for a while with some electric tape covering the leak. It was working for a while.

It was nearly off today, so i decided to try somethin else, got some SELLEYS ALL FIX or whatever its called, covered the area, and then applied a few pieces of 100 mile an hour tap to seal it up and help the SELLEYS hold together, hopefully it works...
I'm just trying to find the money to buy another radiator...

Regards
Adrian

U dont need a new rad. You can get a new tank put on for around $120 plus GST from your local rad shop.

I think the bottom of the tank is leaking too...
At the wreckers they usually have them for about $130 with a pressure test and flushed...
Still unsure..

If i got the new top tank i'd still have to do the rest of it eventually
