AE82 16v wont run

Hey Guys.
I am new to this forum and have been doing some work on the GF's car to try and get it running and thought Id see if you guys can help out because im running a t a bit of a loss.. 
Ok.
The car is a 88 AE82 Hatch back 4AGE 16v, the car has not run since around xmas, first of all I had to fix up a fuel leak, now when I started with it yesterday it would start on 2 pistons and run for around 10 seconds and quit. I pulled the dizzy to pits and cleaned it up (was covered in gunk) and still the same result.. new plugs, new leads, same result... has strong spark on all 4. I noticed it was only running on 2 pistons tho when I started to dissconect the injectors 1 by 1 to see the result, it seams cyl 1 and 2 were nto firing, so pulled the injectors, gave them a bit of a clean, back in but same result... so i swaped over injectors 1 and 2 with 3 and 4... and it started on all 4 and ran smooth for 10 seconds, but will not start again unless its left for a good 5 minits...
i was thinking vapour lock in the fuel system, black flushed fuel filter etc, no go... blocked off the fuel return line once it was started, again, no improvement..
Has any one had this problem before?

Have you checked the timing?
Sounds like its totaly off to me..
When my timing belt snapped we tried for 1 week assuming we got the timing and the dizzy right.
Stupidly enough.. Timing was off by alot as we positioned the crank, intake cam, and dizzy wrong :s
Reset all of it and give it ago

Have checked all that several times unfortunaltly  ...
grank is at TDC, and the cams line up perfect with their timing marks, removed the dizzy and slid it back in several times as well... I have also noticed that it gets compresion lock when trying to start if it the timing is advanced to far, so this tells me the timing is a-ok. the wierd thing is it runs perfectly, but only for 5 to 10 seconds... very wierd...

Im thinking that will have to be the next thing to try..
Ill try and track down another ECU and see how I go.

Hi Guys. HELP!
Ok, have tried a few more thing..
Have tracked down another ECU and loom, pluged it in and had no luck...
Them I zip tied all the injectors to the fuel rain and cranked her over to see fi the injectors were firing, nothing at all.. rippped them out, got the cleaned and flowed, all good now. put them back in and the car fired first kick and idles nice...
BUT... the car wont rev over 2500 rpm and once warm the solanoid valve ont he air box opens and closes causing the idle to flutter and then the engine stalls, once the engine stalls, it will nto start again untill I pull the plugs out and give them a wipe over... It starts again, idles, but still wont rev, when it hits the rev limiter as well, the engine check light comes on..
Can someone tell me what the procedure is to chech the ECU fault codes and also the procedure for setting the TPS.
Or does anyone else have any idea's?

did you get the cold-start injector cleaned as well?
it could be stuck open.
i'm pretty sure the haynes manual or similar has fault codes and trouleshooting etc.

Hey Guys.
Ok I managed to get fault code 3 out of the ECU. (No signal 4 times from Ignitor)
anyone have an ignitor for sale?
