Hi,
I purchased a toyota camry 98 csx.
It haves tuner and casette player working great. I want to add on the cd player and it does haves the space to add the CD player.
Being new to this stuff, can some one guide me, where can I get a CD player and where can I get it installed. I dont want to spend a lots of money on doing this.
Is it easy to install it? If yes, are there any instructions available.
Also I was looking at the log books, which haves the maintenance task list. I dont want to go to the mechanic to get these small things done. Unfortunately the car didn't had the manual with it.
Is there a manual available somewhere which can give the things need to be done to maintain this car and how to carry out these things.-
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
NS

hey.. go to an audio shop and see what components they recommend you
stereo installs are easy, do it yourself
the wiring is just a case of memory, power, ground and then all speaker wires...
if u cut out ur existing radio you can use a test light to find which ones are power and such and cut them off and use them.
u can use existing speaker wire.. but its just as easy to run your own, just pull all the interior panels out

It can sometimes be even easier especially in late model cars as you can purchase a stereo wiring harness for lots of makes which just plug into your original loom and either plug into new stereo or are easy to wire as they give you the wiring diagram.
Personally I have both Phillip's and Sony cds and stackers and best compromise seems to be indash CD/Tuner with stacker or if you really want to get fancy I just put a DVD system in the Pajero ( I know but I've got kids and it keeps em quiet when you do a 21hr drive)) and this plays through existing radio and gives me MP3's plus dvd's and still fits in standard din opening.

You can buy good decks on ebay (thats where i got my Sony) for $90 under retail price and with 6months warranty. Other places are strathfield car radios or JB HiFi.
As for install, it easy to do yourself as soon as you know which of the wires is the power, speaker wires etc. Or if you cant be bothered, Strathfield Car Radios do it for like $60 Are you going to be installing subs and amps etc?

Hi,
I was looking for the players in the market and while talking to a person from autobarn over phone, he told me to buy a FM Modulated CD player
This car currently haves casette and tuner. Below this unit there is empty space to install a CD player.
Is it advisable to look out for FM Modulated CD player?
<--Dimmy-->
Yes, I am doing exactly what you did, I am looking for the CD players on ebay and it seems I can get one for cheap. But I am not sure, what to look in for, like FM Modulated or any CD player?
Autobarn gave me a quote of $65 for installation. But before calling them for installation, I will definitely research more about installing the car audio by myself.

FM modulator is about $70 from strathfield or autobarn and plugs into aerial lead and converts output from your second unit to fm frequency which you then select on your existing radio.
You can get straight CD players but haven't seen any for a while, I paid $220 new for dvd head unit which plays CD's/MP#'s and dvd's and added to my existing sony Cassette/tuner and 6 stacker setup, so gives me all possible combinations. The sony combo's can be picked up for under $400 with 6 stacker or head unit (CD/Tuner)only for about $200 (supercheap brochure this week) Fitting is not hard to do your self and if you buy replacement when you sell car take it out put back original and transfer new unit.
Trick is not to cut your existing wiring, the camry runs an ISO plugand adapter harnesses are about 20 bucks.
check this site if you need to
http://www.aerpro.com/cgi-bin/list.cgi?list=harnes ses
and autobarn/audio dealer can order them.

FM modulated...pfff trying to sound fancy like Jag said. Get a deck that plays MP3's and preferably WMA(but not really important unless the files you copy are wma)...after you install it, you wont need you radio/cassette player coz the decks already have radio ...unless you've got billions of cassettes
Good luck with a find, dont get ripped off

FM modulator is crap. Get a normal CD player and bin the old stuff. CD quality isn't meant to be impaired
