KE35 2TG Project Mon, 19 July 2004 08:17 Go to next message
Hey all, you know a while age i was looking to put a 2tb twin carb in? Well i did that, ran it for a while but it got a bit hot a couple of times, so now i just happened to have a 2tg sitting doing nothing and was going to put that in?! Now i have it in, wired up and running just need to put the radiator in with electric fan, tidy wiring up in engine bay and car and it's all good. Looks the part too just wish i knew someone with a digi camera, by the way it isn't lowered with flares like most others, this is stock looking to make it a good sleeper

Which flares are people using on KE35's?

My race car has LA/LB Lancer flares and they look wrong....

Darren.

Apparently Celica TA22 flares fit, although I don't think the ones I was looking at are "stock" items. I've also heard of people getting Gemini generic flares and fitting them to KE3x Corollas, maybe even Datsun 1200 flares.

i've heard of people using modified ta22 flares as well. i've heard they bolt on but i doubt it

your best bet is to get a set of te37 flares from an importer. genuine ones are prohibitively expensive, but glass ones moulded from genuines aren't too bad. i heard Rolin Imports on the gold coast bring in te37 bits (even entire cars), look them up on whitepages.com.au

Hey yeah took it down the drag strip at ruapuna in ChCh today, figured if anything would go wrong today would show it up but it hasn't. Still running standard diff and brakes, the old 2tb isn't that different apart from less power.

And used a te71 jap spec clutch pedal, firewall has blank for the hydraulic master cylinder so used te71 master cylinder and drilled and filed hole in firewall and put longer studs on pedal box

best i did was a 16.65@80.45mph, not bad for a stock 2tg in a stripped out sr coupe, took a few by surprise not to mention myself. Had an ae82 and ae92 fxgt race me and in the second race with the ae82 i bet him he was running a pod filter, extractors and exhaust so not bad, bad news is i broke out too much in the dyo format so couldn't race him until the grudge racing. Still didn't break anything which is good and haven't had any teething problems with car motor since it's only been driven on the road for 2 days including today

that's alright, you're probably putting down about 90hp at the treads from that time. put it round a big racetrack, that will sort out any reliability issues Smile well done

Yeah i think so too, i got the exhaust from the te71 i got the motor out of so that's going in it aswell as a closer ratio diff head, like a 4.1:1 instead of the 3.9:1 ratio that's in it that'll be why it didn't pull too well in 3rd to 4th
