wrong, everything WILL line up and bolt in
i put a 100kw 4ag into my 1986 AE82 CS-X hatchy
i used the standard 4ac gearbox
u will need a efi fuel tank from a ae82 twincam
twin cam dash with tacho, spose u could use a cs-x dash and go crazy into the red (redline is 6000 on a 4ac, 7700 on a 4age )
you can probably get away with using the standard fuel lines althought i put in bigger ae82 twin cam lines, had to cut and use flexi pipe on two corners as the steel pipe was dented and i couldnt bend it back,
in short would i do it again? no. i'd just go out and buy a car that already has the engine in it. BUT it did feel good when the engine was finally in and it was all done. The car is so different to drive now. i just have to be gentle with the gearbox
bolting the engine in is the easy bit
the wiring is the hard bit, i had a auto electrician do it for me, cheaply coz i know him, and that was $600
there is HEAPS of info on these forums if you do a bit of searching you will find all the info u need, i did, if it wasnt for these forums my car would not be running
also its not a cheap exercise either i spent about 1500-2000 (including $600 for wiring) on bits and pieces to get it going but i had a few hiccups with bits that i pulled out that were no good and had to be replaced anyways
like:- left hand side driveshaft was knackeredd $160
new water pump for motor $80
timing belt ( if u do a water pump u might as well do the timing belt cos ur there already and its a pain in the ass to do later) $40
new plugs, new leads, air filter, petrol filter, oils, coolant, brake fluid, more coolant, more oil, oil flush stuff, tools that i didnt have but needed. i had a friend help me over a long weekend, we got the old engine out and the new one bolted in. so its not really that hard, but you will need and engine crane, hire is about $25-$40/ day depending where u hire from, i found bunnings to be cheapest
If you have any other questions im happy to help just message me
Cheers

wiring can be done MUCH cheaper than $600.
Otherwise this is an easy conversion. If you want some fun you could use the 20V C56 gearbox with its shorter ratios, they can be had cheap enough these days.

hey witzl where u get cheap c56s? whats the 5th gear like on those puppys is it tall for cruising or still short coz mine is like pulling 3500 at 110k/hr
yeh wiring CAN be done cheaper but this is no dodgy install plus the loom we had to work from was pretty fucked, a fair bit had to be made up as he went along. a few other things were also put in alarm/imob, central locking, amp, new stereo, sub. also had to get a couple sensors, o2 sensor, water temperature sensor so lol
